Check Out Ja’Lise Victor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ja’Lise Victor.

Ja’Lise, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an educator at heart! I am the girl who played “teacher” with her cousins, stuffed animals, baby dolls, and whoever else would listen. As time progressed, my passion grew into profession. I have been in early childhood education for over 9 years. I earned my Bachelor in Education at UWG and Master of Education (Curriculum and Instruction) at Georgia Southern University. I have taught students ranging from Pre-K to 5th grade. I have had the opportunity to work with teachers as an Academic Coach and provide professional development for educators at a variety of conferences in the United States (& Canada).

When my first daughter was born, my focus shifted. I wanted to be with her and begin to dream about opening and owning my own childcare center. It took me 4 years to take the leap of faith, but once I gained the courage I never looked back. God has been so good!

Now, my preschool babies call me Ms. Lise (as the kids call me), OWNER and Program Director of The Ivy League Early Learning Center. Here, my passion never changed, only the process! The Ivy League is home for me. I have peace knowing that I am able to continue to foster and shape little minds–my own way. My babies leave me more than prepared for Kindergarten and beyond!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say that the most difficult part of running my program is not the kids–it’s running a business while managing parent expectations as well as the responsibilities I have in my own personal life with my kids. I have a great support system though! My mom (Gma) is everything! She is my right hand man when it comes to the Ivy League (and anything else). The kids love her and my business would be nothing without her constant love and support.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are an in-home childcare program! We currently accept children ages 3 months to 5 years old and our current hours are 6:30am-5:00 pm.
