Check Out Jason Barbosa’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Barbosa

Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2020, I borrowed a friend’s camera for fun and started taking pictures of my modified car. I became obsessed with photography, building concepts, and learning to edit. As the months went by, my passion grew stronger. Friends and family began to notice my work, encouraging me to share it on social media. I created an Instagram account dedicated to my photography, posting my favorite shots and connecting with fellow enthusiasts; the positive feedback fueled my creativity. The support and genuine love from friends who let me shoot their cars motivated me to invest in this craft.

In 2023, I decided to explore and try my hand at portraits, sports and event photography. With the support of my family and friends, I expanded my portfolio and built better services and overall experience. By the end of 2023, I realized that my love for photography was more than just a hobby; it was a calling. I started to consider the idea of turning this passion into a business. I began researching how to set up a photography business, attending webinars, and even reaching out to local photographers for advice. The thought of capturing special moments for others filled me with excitement.

I took the leap! I invested in better equipment, built a website, and established my brand. I launched my business with small photoshoots for friend’s & family, and from there, word of mouth began to spread.

In 2024, my family and I decided we make a really huge move from Boston to Atlanta. The vibrant city promised new opportunities and a fresh start, but leaving behind the familiar was bittersweet. After weeks of planning and packing, we arrived in Atlanta. The lively neighborhoods, and the warm Southern hospitality instantly felt like home. I quickly immersed myself in the local photography community, attending Hills4ATL every week & creating content for Lion Chaser Fitness. The response was encouraging; people were eager to learn my story and see more of my work. Every week, I have built new relationships and gained referrals, quickly establishing my presence in the community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. To start off, I am self-taught. I have learned everything I know from trial & error and other creators via Instagram and Youtube.

I still don’t believe that my business is fully established. I am still trying to find my niche. I am stuck in between being a sports creator or shifting my business into event photography. I have love for sports, but events help financially.

Moving to Atlanta has been amazing so far, but starting my business all over again is hard.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in sports and event photography/videography.

Growing up, I was an athlete that played 3 sports every year, Football, Basketball, and Baseball. I absolutely love sports and had a dream of making it to the big leagues. Now that I’ve become a photographer, I figured why not do sports photography? The moment I was capturing my first Basketball game, I knew instantly, I wanted to become an NBA photographer right away! The adrenaline and excitement I get while capturing the game is undescribable, I absolutely love it.

When it comes to event photography, I enjoy being in an environment where everyone is having a good time and enjoying life. I get to capture everyone dancing or smiling, and everyone is always in a good mood.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Everyone can just reach out to me! Whether that be through social media or via email, please reach out to me. I am open to doing anything at the moment since I just moved to the city.

I am trying to network with as much people as possible so I can grow my business.

When it comes to support, word of mouth is probably the best way to support someone. Also on social media, more likes, comments, shares, follows always helps photographers as well.
