Check Out Jaya Nicole’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaya Nicole.

Hi Jaya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always had a camera since about ten years old. I would see so many things and think they would be a great photos and how I wanted everyone to see what I’m seeing. That trickled down into me being editor for yearbook in high school and learning how to use many different types of cameras. Present day all of my knowledge is used in my craft. The passion and love for it continue to grow as learn more about not only myself but my art and how I use it to express.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most struggles in my art come from within. The constant mental battle of confidence in me to execute my ideas. Most of life’s complications are you vs. you. Along with being patient with myself and always feeling the need to be doing something. I think in the age of social media artists and normies feel the need to prove themselves to the masses. If you are an artist, you always will be. That’s the immortality and longevity that comes with the title. We are always worried about what’s next but we must be present. Honor the past as a way to inspire and move forward at your own pace. There is a time for everything. For most creatives, I think that funding my projects as well can be difficult. However, I’ve made many things happen with little to nothing so you can’t let it stop you. I think no matter what, there will be your fair share of mishaps when creating but once you understand that, it gets easier.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer and creative director. I must execute ideas for myself but I would love to lend my creative eye to others. I am most proud of when I had an art show in Summer 21′. It was during a time where life was hitting me hard from all angles but my art kept me going. I felt very purposeful because of it, even at my lowest. Being me is what sets me apart from others, what makes everyone different really. No one can do me like me. There are so many ever-changing parts of me waiting to be expressed through my work and that’s the beauty of it.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am on a journey of self-discovery and deeply appreciate the support and love. I hope to move mountains with my work not only in photography but anything I do and create. I encourage artists to keep creating, create for fun, and create for you. Tap into your child self who wanted nothing more that to be the greatest they could be, who knew they could be anything. Connect who you were before society corrupted your brain. That is what will set you apart.
