Check Out Jaylon Deion’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaylon Deion.

Jaylon Deion

Hi Jaylon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I first started working with fashion, I was incorporating art into my fashion. My brother inspired me to start customizing my clothes around my sophomore year of high school. I would paint on my jeans and draw on some of the shirts I had in my closet. This is where the love of fashion started. Soon after, I began to glue different materials on my jeans, tote bags, etc. and get as creative as I could with what I had. While I was working on clothes, I would make outfits to match and style my own photoshoots. I began using Instagram as my “portfolio” and posting whenever I could.

I started really working with fashion design after I graduated High School. I bought myself a sewing machine and taught myself how to make different pieces. Started to really pursue fashion and started my brand “Jaylon Deion” then dropped my first collection, “Jaylon Deion Denim 1” In April (2023). After that collection, I kept going and trusting God with every part of my brand. My second collection, “Jaylon Deion Cargo Collection”, and individual pieces I’ve added to my brand show how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned.

The most important part of Jaylon Deion is giving glory and honor to Jesus Christ for placing these talents in my life. Everything I do/create I could never do without God leading and guiding me through the creative process.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some struggles I’ve faced with my brand would be learning how to sew and use a machine to create what I envisioned. There were many times where I would mess up, thread incorrectly, break a needle, etc. and would want to just give up. I watched many many YouTube videos on basic and hard things I was trying to accomplish. I also had help from other sewers around me to help correct things.

Another challenge I’ve experienced with owning a brand is the level of support. Owning a business in general isn’t an easy thing to do, especially if you feel you don’t have the support you need to grow. It takes time to build and grow your audience and it takes time to build and grow your business. They are a lot of hours of hard work put into, especially if you are solo and don’t have your team yet. Sometimes it can be hard and discouraging, but I always remind myself that in my life, brand, and everything I do, God is always with me and ordering my steps. He will not fail me and I shall prosper, and everything I touch is blessed. So though it may seem hard, “Weeping endure for a night, but Joy comes in the morning” (Psalms 30.)

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Fashion Designer/Model. I make clothes for people who love creativity and everything I do is for His Glory. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in my creative journey, and how I chose to pursue my passion and use my gifts to honor God. I think one thing that separates me from others is the meaning of my brand. It holds me accountable and reminds me that Jesus is the reason I have these gifts and talents, so I should always give him the glory. I strive to make him proud with everything I make. I wouldn’t be walking as a Fashion Designer & Model if I didn’t have God by my side. God has always helped me through everything man could not fix and he teaches me things in my art every day.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m not really a podcast person or much of a reader. I would say I’m more of a visual person so I usually watch movies and videos around fashion, art, etc. My favorite book would be my Bible, it is my resource that helps me do my best in life and teaches me things on my path.
