Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Hawkins.
Hi Jeffrey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you so much for having me! I am excited to share mystory. I am an Atlanta native who has lived in the city through the 1960s, 70s, and 80, or what I call its glory years. I earned myB.S. in Political Science/Public Administration from The University of West Georgi and went on to work in my family’s business which provided Educational and Job Skills Training out of college. Working in the Job Corp world we had to bid and win government job training contracts, and this required a great deal of research on demographics, populations, and U.S. history. Along the way, I learned extremely vital and eye-opening details about our nation and world. The adage: knowledge is power is most definitely true!
Through the experience of education, the working world, politics, and life, I felt the need to share my research knowledge. In April of 2021, I launched my podcast: The Truthsayer Report whose global mission is to explore and examine historical events and how they shape current events; and most importantly, our Lives!
The Truthsayer Report Podcast unlocks the backstories concerning The Tale Two of Two Cities – Atlanta and Birmingham, Atlanta the Almost City State, The American Civil War, The Sad Story of Haiti, The Brotherhood of France and USA, If Not CRT, how about History, California named for a Black Queen, and much more! Each episode is around 15 minutes in length designed to entertain and inform the listeners of the Truths of History.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to tell the Truths of History has been challenging due my struggles to navigate the Social Media world. I am from the world of brick and mortal. My fazes of research were newspapers, books, libraries, and microfiche (LOL). The world has changed; digital literacy and one’s ability to understand its movement and delivery system can be quite daunting.
I am confident in my knowledge of history particularly American history. I have always been told I have the perfect voice for radio, so recording my podcast is easy. With each passing day become a part of history I have an endless supply of material from which I can generate podcast topics. Right now, my challenges are to find; and ultimately capture my audience. Yes, it is true that it is hard to teach an old dog a new trick, but a good dog never stops barking!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My professional life began with my family’s educational and job skills training business. I started in research and development of target groups who needed services to improve their life opportunities. I would manage the identification process of groups, establish the methods of educational and job skills training, and manage the overall programs. The programs would focus on Welfare recipients, displaced workers, military service members, etc. These programs served thousands of people and helped them earn their GED, vocational skills, etc., but most importantly, changed their lives! Later, my career shifted to the distribution, logistics, and fleet management space. I served with a few fortune 500 companies including: Amazon, Pepsi, and LabCorp to name a few. The corporate world is an extremely interesting and political environment and not for the faint of heart!
My professional career has allowed me to travel, have new experiences, meet some interesting people, learn about the nuances of others, and brought me great pride and joy helping to improve my fellow man’s fortunes!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My wife Sherry has been very supportive and encouraging in my podcasting journey. My father and brother are the first to listen to every episode. I appreciate their encouragement as well as critique of the information and delivery. My older brother,Erskine, who is a college professor, provides a great of deal of knowledge and journalistic prospective to produce the greatest content. In addition, my daughter Zuri has participated in every aspect of starting The Truthsayer Report Podcast.
I can’t forget my listeners who tune into the The TruthsayerReport for every episode. I look forward to making some your readers my listeners as well. Again, thank you for doing this interview.
