Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Walker.
Hi Joseph, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The journey started back in 2013 when I started my Youtube channel and in 2019 when I started taking producing music more seriously. I posted over 100 beats in that year and making beats was always a hobby of mine ever since 2003. As time progressed, I decided to jump out of my comfort zone and become a business owner. Of course, I was nervous, but I made the jump. At first, my business name was J Walk Productions, but after doing a business name lookup, I saw a lot of companies with the name J Walk Productions. So it’s back to square one. So as I’m thinking about business names, the Lord reminded me back in middle school and high school, I was known as the king of beats, and in my senior year of high school, I was granted the name King Joe because, in our broadcasting class, I made the hottest beats. So with me making beats and doing videos, that brought about the birth of King Joe Entertainment. We’ve been in business for three years now and have grown in staff, production & in our social media following.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Running an entertainment company or any business for that matter, is very challenging. But, the best thing about it is that in my business are things that I love to do or gifts that God gave me to share with the world. Challenges such as people canceling at the last minute, projects falling apart, financial hiccups, stress, producer’s block, writer’s block, and bills just to name a few. Here’s a big one, you put in all this effort and energy into a project just for people to not support it or you end up with only ten views in three months. One thing I’ve learned in this business is that hiccups are a part of the journey, just like life. In order for you to build muscle, you have to tear it up first, you have to be sore, but if you keep at it, then the results will speak for themselves. You’ll stand out from the crowd & everyone will have no other choice but to notice. Stay consistent, and post your content because all it takes is one video to blow up, and bam you have fans.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Here at King Joe Entertainment, we specialize in making great music for all ages and genres. Also, we created great content videos for the whole family to enjoy. We’re mostly known for our comedy video content on our multiple platforms, such as our When Prophesying Goes Wrong series, Sinner’s Purge series, etc. We’re also known for working with various wonderful different artists in our music department. Artists such as gospel award-winning duo T & I, Nspire, Vexzel, Big SupaChris, Mark Tailor Made Taylor, and more. I am most proud of the fact that I’m using the gifts God gave me to share with others & people from all over the globe would DM me, post a comment, or tell me personally how our content affected them in a grand positive way. How they laugh so hard, they had tears coming out of their eyes or how they were having a bad day until they saw our content and their whole mood & day changed for the better. We’re set apart by knowing that the source of our success comes mainly from Jesus Christ and that our staff has no selfish agendas; we all come together and knock out these projects but at the same time, we laugh and joke and have a good time all at the same time. Plus none of our content is scripted; every last one of them is freestyle comedy. All I do is give them the plot and the actors take it from there.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Oh yeah, I can name drop!!!!!!! First and foremost my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for leading and guiding me all the way. Secondly, my wife Tonita Walker. She’s been there from day 1 walking with me, supporting me, praying for me, and also working with me because she’s the co-founder of the company. Thirdly, my entire family, my mother and father Eric and Ann Walker Sr. My big brother and little sister Eric Jr. and Tashena Walker. My in-laws Mama & Papa J, Big sis Lakela & Iralynn & my brother Klynell. This list includes everyone on both sides of the family. All my nephews & nieces & All my cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. My grandma Carolyn Walker and my grandpa Lonnie Walker Jr. aka 450 “rest in paradise grandpa”. My friends aka my extended family too many of them to name but they know who they are, they’re the ones that have and are still supporting us with no hesitation. They have either shared, commented, subscribed, acted in multiple projects, or been a second and third cameraman, you name it. I’m extremely humbled by their support, I’m forever grateful and I love them forever.
