Check Out Julie Anthony’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Anthony.

Hi Julie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from Gannon University in 1997 with a degree in medical science. I performed mammography and assisted in breast biopsies in the greater Atlanta area until I went back to school to learn about medical tattooing, areola restoration tattooing and permanent cosmetics/makeup. I obtained numerous certifications and training from Permanent makeup of Atlanta, American Academy of Micropigmentation and American Institute of Intradermal Cosmetics in 2003. Since then I have been working alongside some of the best plastic surgeons in Atlanta making women feel beautiful every day. I have logged thousands of procedures including 3D nipple tattooing, areola restoration tattooing, scar camouflage, micro-blading eyebrows, permanent eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner and color, and corrective procedures.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Back when I started learning permanent cosmetics and areola tattooing there was not a lot of educators out there. I gathered as much education I could in GA and then I found premier pigments. They are based in Texas and were teaching people for free. So I went out there to learn as much as I could in a short period of time. Their classes only ran for 2 weeks. I traveled back and forth a few times. When I came back to GA I fine-tuned my own technique and style of tattooing. I do have an artistic background so eventually, the procedures became natural.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I guess you could say I am known for being good at what I do, permanent cosmetics. However, I am most proud of being good at 3D areola/nipple tattoos. Usually, the clients that receive the areola tattooing has undergone multiple surgery’s because of a diagnosis of breast cancer. Performing the 3D nipple/areola tattooing can and does make women feel whole again. I would say that my mammography background set me apart from all other tattooist because I know and understand the struggles women go through after finding out they have breast cancer. I used to be the person that assisted in the biopsy procedures and now I am the person that puts the final touches (areola tatooing) on their reconstruction.

How do you define success?
Success can be defined in different ways. I feel I achieve success after each and every procedure that I perform. I know that I did the best job I could and my clients are very happy with their results.
