Check Out June Griffin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to June Griffin.

Hi June, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Music has always been apart of me since I was old enough to recognize. My dad is a singer as well, and we’d sing together all of the time at church which helped me build my confidence in performing in front of people, which helped me go on to perform at several different events at as young as 8 years old. I always had a desire to be expressive. Whether that was through song, poems, journaling, writing stories or what have you, I have always shared a real passion for artistic forms of expression. I didn’t always know where to channel my emotions, but when I started writing music that’s when it clicked for me. I haven’t done anything else or genuinely pursued anything else since. Music is my life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, you know what they say… nothing good in life really comes easy. There will always be hurdles, trials and mistakes made when you’re working towards dreams that are bigger than life! You have to anticipate those things before they come and you have to not allow it to deter you or kill your confidence because it absolutely can. I may not be exactly where I want to be yet, and yes, I may have experienced some hardships and setbacks but with every lesson, I learned something more valuable. And honestly, it makes the journey all the more worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a songwriter first and immediately after, I’m a singer that raps. I personally feel that I have my own unique sound and feel to my music that just sets me apart from a lot of other artists. I like to incorporate my real, raw life experiences in my music and because I live a very real and raw life, my music always has deeper meanings that a lot of my supporters resonate with and relate to and they look to me for those empowering words and music they know they can listen to when they want to feel seen or heard. I’m most proud of the fact I’m still going hard! I’ve seen so many of my peers start and give up on music, but me? Nah. I really want this. And I’m going to get it.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Hopefully, the gimmick trends fade out and the appreciation for real music with soul and essence starts to become the trend again. I want the real artists to get their recognition again because we deserve it. People’s lives are ready to be changed and we’re here to change them if they let us.
