Today we’d like to introduce you to Jurell.
Hi Jurell, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey and love for music started when I was about five, from what I can remember. I grew up singing in church and school choirs. Music is the way I can completely express myself. Music has been a wonderful outlet and has helped me through many obstacles in life. I never gave up on my plan for music. I don’t believe that it’s a dream. I believe that it’s my plan for life. I just want someone to hear my music and my feelings. I recently released my single called Role Play. Not only am I a singer/songwriter, but I am also an entrepreneur with my own business called NeNe’s Girl Accessories. I started with my mother in mind. She is NeNe and I am her girl. We add a “little spice to what makes you spicy”.
I wanted to expand my brand of what makes me me. With that, I am also an actress, a model, and a host. I have many hats and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love what I do and the woman that I have become.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many struggles in life from being a plus size singer and model to being an entrepreneur. Not looking like the average model or the sexiest singer in society’s eyes. I had to love who I am no matter what. A part of me wanted to give up on music when my father passed in 2015, but I knew that he wouldn’t be proud of that decision. My most recent obstacle was to decide to quit my 9 to 5. It has been the best decision of my life because I feel free to invest myself solely into who I am and what I am creating for my future.

My craft has many sides which are all a part of me. My singing steams from my love of music. I know that my voice is like no other. I pride myself on perfecting who I am so that it will show through my music. JurellTheNew is who I am musically. Jurell is the business owner of NeNe’s Girl Accessories. NeNe’s Girl Accessories specialize in fedoras, sunglasses, and etc. I love fashion and I represent that in the way I style my clothes. I have always gotten complaints on my style that I decided to share it with the world by putting it into a company. My most proud moment was the launch of NeNe’s Girl Accessories. Seeing my plan and all the hard work that was put into it become a reality was a blessing.
