Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaice Burnett
Hi Kaice, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Kaice (known as Kaice Alea online) originally from Baltimore, Maryland. I started my YouTube channel when I was 16, back in high school, when I began my natural hair journey. I was transitioning from a perm to natural hair and just wanted to document the process, not realizing at the time that I was stepping into a movement. I truly feel like the natural hair YouTubers of that era laid the foundation for what we now know as influencer culture—we built communities around shared experiences, long before brand deals and algorithms dictated content.
Over time, as I evolved, so did my content. While natural hair was my entry point, I naturally began exploring other aspects of self-care—skin, makeup, and eventually deeper personal development topics. I moved to Miami at 18 to attend Florida International University, where I continued growing my platform while earning my degree in Digital Media Studies and Communications. That experience not only sharpened my skills but also solidified my passion for digital storytelling.
Being online for so long, though, came with its own lessons. At one point, content creation became my entire world, and I found myself losing balance—pouring everything into my work without taking care of myself in the process. That’s where my spiritual journey really began. Now, alongside beauty and lifestyle, I share insights on Human Design, astrology, and self-development—tools that have helped me find sustainability in both life and entrepreneurship. My focus now is on creating from a place of alignment rather than pressure, and that’s made all the difference in how I show up in this space.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’d say one of the biggest challenges has been developing true discipline and learning to fully trust myself in my own journey. When I first started back in 2013, there wasn’t really a blueprint for this—I didn’t have anyone to follow, no clear roadmap to success. And even as the industry evolved, I found myself, at times, leaning too heavily on other people’s ideas, opinions, and even their validation to confirm what I should or shouldn’t be doing. That led to a lot of setbacks because, in the process, I started losing my own voice and connection to myself. It wasn’t until I allowed myself a period of intentional isolation—really stepping away from the noise and tuning into my own intuition—that I started to regain clarity and confidence. That shift helped me move forward in a way that felt more aligned and, in turn, created more ease in my journey.
Another major challenge has been the financial instability, especially in the beginning. The income can be extremely unpredictable when you’re still figuring out your own structure. But strangely enough, I found that uncertainty to be a motivator—it pushed me to get creative, to build multiple income streams, and to innovate new ways of creating stability for myself.
And of course, staying connected to my “why” has been a continuous lesson. In a space where comparison is so easy, it can be tempting to measure my journey against someone else’s. But I’ve learned that the only way to truly sustain myself in this is by staying grounded in my own path, trusting that every step—smooth or rocky—is leading me exactly where I’m meant to be.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At my core, I’m a storyteller. My work blends digital media, spirituality, and self-development to create content that not only informs but also deeply resonates. I started in the beauty and lifestyle space, but over time, my content evolved alongside me. Now, I specialize in helping people ground their spirituality into their daily lives—whether that’s through Human Design, astrology, or simply learning how to navigate life with more self-trust and alignment.
I think what sets me apart is my ability to create a sense of community through storytelling. I don’t just share information—I weave it into something meaningful, something that makes people feel seen. Whether I’m talking about a transit, a shift in energy, or personal growth, my goal is always to help people reconnect with themselves. And I believe that comes from my own journey of learning to do the same.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how I’ve been able to sustain myself in this space while staying true to who I am. Being online for so long, it’s easy to get caught up in trends or external validation, but I’ve intentionally built a platform that reflects my values. I’ve had to learn the hard way how to balance entrepreneurship with personal well-being, and that’s a huge part of the message I share now.
Within my career, I’m especially proud of being selected for the Sephora Squad two years in a row (2020 and 2021), as well as being named Influencer of the Year at one of my previous agencies in 2021. Being part of the Sephora Squad was such a pivotal experience—it not only boosted my confidence but also helped me expand my network in ways I never expected. It introduced me to so many like-minded creators, deepened my understanding of the beauty industry, and showed me firsthand the power of authentic community-building in the digital space.
Beyond that, I’m incredibly grateful for the connections I’ve made through being online—the friendships I’ve built with other influencers, the inspiring people I’ve met, and the community that has formed around my content. The relationships I’ve cultivated over the years are a reminder of why I started in the first place—to share, to connect, and to create something meaningful.
And ultimately, my work is about helping people remember their wholeness, trust their own journey, and integrate both the spiritual and the practical into their lives in a way that feels real and sustainable.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without the unwavering support of my mom. Even when things didn’t seem secure, and my path didn’t look traditional, she always believed in me. She made so many sacrifices to ensure I could go to college, earn my degree, and even graduate debt-free—all while encouraging me to chase my dreams in my own way. She never judged my choices, even when she didn’t fully understand them, and having that kind of unconditional support gave me the stability I needed to trust my own journey.
Another huge influence in my life has been my childhood mentor, Adrienne Carver, the owner of Studio A in Baltimore, Maryland. From a young age, she instilled in me the foundation of discipline, independence, and self-belief. Through her etiquette and dance courses, I learned not just grace and poise but also the deeper confidence to carry myself with intention in everything I do. The lessons she taught me have shaped so much of how I navigate life and business today.
Beyond that, my community has played an irreplaceable role in my journey. Over the years, I’ve evolved—not just in the type of content I create but in the way I share and express myself. And through all of those shifts, there have been people who have continued to support me, which has only reinforced how important it is to stay true to my path. I’ve learned to find safety in change, trusting that the right people will stay, and others will naturally come and go—and that’s okay.
And finally, as strange as it might sound, I also have to acknowledge the lessons I’ve learned from business partnerships that didn’t quite work out. I’ve been signed to two agencies in the past, and while those relationships didn’t end as I had hoped, they taught me so much about myself, my needs, and my worth in this industry. Even through the setbacks, those experiences helped me develop stronger discernment, a deeper trust in myself, and the confidence to pivot when necessary.
Every single one of these influences—my mom, my mentor, my community, and even the challenges—has played a key role in shaping not just my career but also who I am as a person. And for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
