Today we’d like to introduce you to Karyn Elle.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I knew I was too passionate, funny and well charming to be stuck in a corner office. The passion I have for media, life and love just wouldn’t let me keep it to myself. So I dropped a podcast and small business three months later after the universe told me it was time. Two years later, I have added two other small business, worked with a number of artists and celebrities have charted around the world and I’m just getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, there have been struggles, no road is smooth. Especially when you built it from the ground up with no handouts. I pride myself on maintaining my self-respect and authenticity, In business, that is hard to do. I think my biggest struggles have been internal. Making the right choices for my brand, making the personal sacrifices and really being hard on myself. The outside world is hard, but our internal struggles are harder to overcome.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am Karyn Elle, I am an all media mama. I am the voice and visionary behind the mic at Sayith Loud Podcast. This is a weekly podcast where I discuss life and love. When I was doing my research, I found podcast for the Oprahs of the world and I love Oprah but being a New Yorker that stuff didn’t apply to my life, and then I found podcast for the Cardi’s of the world, and while I’m Bronx born I no longer live in that space mentally. So I created a space for women and men life me, just lifin and laughin through the bullshit.
The podcast was embedded in launching Sayith Loud LLC, a boutique media company that specializes in brand management, podcasting, film, writing, small business coaching, and TV. Here I help other visionaries bring their vision to life, managing artist, planning events, writing film, creative direction and more.
After a successful episode titled “What’s In Your Hoe Bag” I launched a lingerie line marketed to men, yes, men, Send lingerie instead of flowers. Sayith Sexy was born! Sayith Sexy is a lingerie line that empowers people to live out loud, we carry products for men and women, with sizes up to 3XL. Because everyone should feel sexy. Because men need help in picking the perfect gift and because sexy looks different as we get older. I wanted to celebrate that.
My most recent venture was yet another store. If I could sell people brand management and identity, I had to be able to do it again. The first time maybe luck, do it again you’re a pro, and so I stepped out to prove this to myself with the launch of Sayith Atelier Co. a craft and stationary shop. Creating a new brand with an identity completely separate of the podcast and LLC.
I am most proud when people stop me in the street, they re-energize me, give me hope, make me humble. Some days I feel like I am not doing enough, and these strangers let me know I’m not in this alone. I appreciate every email, wave, DM, and I keep them for those days.
What sets me apart is….. ME , that I don’t try to tell the perfect stories or give the perfect impression. Life is complicated and messy and I own it, I let people know it’s okay to cry, to fail, to mess up and that we are all human. What people love most is that I am as real as it gets. So that’s what I give them.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am a risk taker because anything that doesn’t grow is dead! So I seize the moments and the opportunities as they come. I think people need to understand that in order to grow, we have to challenge ourselves even if it’s uncomfortable. I have risked being vulnerable telling my stories, I’ve risked money in starting businesses, risk in love, in life. Those stories and experiences are what makes life most rich. When we are old and laying on our death beds we don’t regret purchases and things, we regret the risk we didn’t take. I’m not waiting… I’m not waiting to regret.
