Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenea Yancey.
Hi Kenea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
How I got started in the fitness industry was a bet, the bet was to do a bodybuilding competition, I did my first competition and got hooked, a year after I competed in one if the biggest shows in the world the Arnold classic I end up winning the overall in bikini and was the first African American to do so, I gain my IFBB pro status in 2014 shortly after I develop a team of women that had the same goals to compete, I did help two other women of color win the overall at the Arnold Classic as well and many other women to gain their pro Status. I also train other women that do not compete. Before I was competing, I was doing film makeup video and photoshoot makeup. I incorporated what I have done in my past to present with the makeup and hair in the bodybuilding industry because it’s a pageant with muscles so you must have glam, so I’ve also have a business partner and others to help assist clients with their stage glam.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s not all glitz and glam I’ve had times were it’s very challenging, but the person that I am I’m so determined, not just for myself but for my clients to reach their goals.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I empower women to be the best and to make sure they know that they can do anything with the right mindset. My most proudest moment is helping two other females win the Arnold overall we made history as women of color. What set me apart from others is my personality, I’m not a boring trainer I love having a great time while getting to goals.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The lesson I learn with dealing with cover is that people are always wanting to look and feel good about themselves because during covid all my clients were determined to get their workouts in rather it’s in the gym or at home.
