Today we’d like to introduce you to Khalil Blount.
Hi Khalil, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
DJ B3 began rocking house parties in June 2009. My mission was to share some amazing music that was not being played on the radio. These house parties grew to a point where we had 300 people showing up to a double wide trailer in the country. That’s when I knew it was time to become serious about hosting events. My First self hosted event was a Dancehall/Reggae party in 2013 at “Shadows: Dinner Theater” in Downtown Macon. Soon after, I had my first DJ residency at a bar named Fowl Play.
In 2015, I graduated from Macon State College with a Bachelors in Health Service Administration and an Associates in I.T. The next year, I was busting ass to work in the healthcare field, but with no luck. In 2016, my friend Alexander Wrath and I was graced with an opportunity to speak with THE Percy Sledge after a performance at Washington Park. “You know, everything i have, I owe it all to Otis.” I was so inspired by our conversation, I decided to dedicate my life to doing music full-time anyway I could.
At this time, I curated a DJ / Artist Event called “Third Sunday Funday” hosted at Fresh Produce Record when it was on MLK JR BLVD. Shout out to Willie D for allowing us to use the space. It was a special moment to have music lovers of all kinds to come together and show real support and share their art. There are a few Videos on Youtube. The first one being titled “Trap Party @ Fresh Produce Records” and others “Third Sunday Funday Macon.”
Over the next few years, I am 100% DJing. In 2017, I am finally finacially stable for the first time in my life, working a few shows a week both Public and Private. Im being put on a few Festival bills such as Kingdom Rave in Atlanta.
Im being flown out to Seattle for gigs with Sabir, Alaz, and JoFTWin. Kickin it in Akron, OH with my DJ mentors Roger Riddle and Shawty Slim.
2018, I get asked by my old nightlife coworker bartending friend Adam Mitchell to host karaoke at this bar way out in Warner Robins called Friends On The Hill. I had no knowledge of karaoke, but I did attend a karaoke night at Clairmont Lounge once and had a blast. The owners at the time informed me that they have tried karaoke in the past, and it did not work. At this time, I’m a local superstar with hella experience of hosting events. I accept this gig Pro Bono for one month, just to solidify we can make this work. Next thing I know, Tuesday’s Trivia With Giff & DJ B3’s Karaoke are the talk of the town. So much so that now every bar in Warner Robins is starting to have a Karaoke Night. There was at one time a Karaoke Bar that was built right down the street. Talk about Influence!
2020, A New Decade! Im hosting Karaoke at Friends On The Hill and a few other bars. DJing to thousands on the weekend. 4 different Bars every week. Full Swing Shaking and baking til COVID hits!
I thankfully had savings, but man. I was almost homeless. I was denied any pandemic relief. I went 6 Months with Zero Pay. Covid caused me to stop and take a look at where all of this is heading. During those month, I learned how to Stream and did small electronics repairs. I was inspired to be the local BeatLab down here. Repairing Gameboys, turntables, speakers, subwoofers, keyboards, anything really. 2021, I officially organized B3 Music LLC using what I learned from all that downtime. I changed my business structure and became more serious about how I was working with venues. That really put me in positions I never knew existed.
Then in October the same year, the owners of Friends On The Hill call up a meeting. “We are no longer going to be open come 2022. Good luck.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I immediately asked if they were interested in selling. We spitballed numbers back and forth for about 2 weeks. Then we agreed. I had 2 months to learn how to own and operate a bar & restaurant.
For the next 2 months, I shadowed the previous owners and learned every inch of Friends On The Hill. I gave a month notice to all of my weekly gigs. By December, I was at the bar 12 – 18 hours a day. Learning how to do payroll, product orders, food prep, etc. I brought over the amazing staff that was already in place.
2022 came and we were full sail. My first renovation project was a new stage, sound and lighting. Building the plane as it is flying is how these past 4 years have felt. Being a one man show to having a Team of 10+ is a transition i thought was impossible.
2025, we recieved the Georgia’s Best Bar in our Region. Friends On The Hill is the most inclusive bar in middle Ga. We host weekly Trivia Tuesday and Karaoke on Thursday, and Sunday. DJs every Friday and rotating Live Entertainment (Live Music, Drag and Comedy) on Saturdays.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being able to scale up in the music industry is something that does not have set steps in place. A chance meeting today can lead to a lifestyle change in the future.
One challenge that comes to mind is conveying a radically inclusive bar, restaurant, venue that exists in the middle Ga area. I was asked by an old patron, “How are you going to have dart players, drag queens, bikers, and musicians all at the same time?” I replied, “We are all here to have a good time.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the ower of Friends On The Hill in Warner Robins, Ga
My DJ stage name is DJ B3.
I specialize in curating and Hosting Events. I love bringing concepts to life. Right now I have the best karaoke party on Thursdays. Big Ass Rave is my latest successful EDM Event. JustCos is a cosplay-centered party that will be returning this year 2026.
Friends on the Hill is one of the few venues hosting Drag events. “The Empire” and “The Tribe” are the 2 Drag troupes we work with, providing opportunities from talent around the world.
This past weekend, The Tribe had La La Ri from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Warner Robins has been very supportive of us bringing a variety of entertainment to the city.
I can’t think of any serious negatives at this time
