Check Out Kiara Houston’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Houston.

Hi Kiara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m from Columbus, Ga and I’ve lived here for going on about 12 years. Most of my musical influenced started in my teen years. I have always had a love for music though. It really began growing on me in college. I used to listen to some of the homies in the dorm as they would group in cyphers and freestyle nonstop. I felt that I could do it to if not better but I lacked the confidence back then…major lack.

So I would always shy away when it came time for me to join in lol… but to myself, I would write songs and different hooks and keep them to myself. Long story short, back in 2015 I asked God for the chance and courage to make music and I promised that I’d solely do it for Him. He allowed me to meet Kelvin Berk (K5 Ent) which is who encouraged me into writing and creating. I started with him and Anthony Daniels as we formed a group called Discern Prophecy. We pushed forward for a while until we dispersed from one another and then after a while another group was formed, We called ourselves Disciples of Grace. The group lasted a little until everyone got busy doing life, so we faded off. So after that, I decided to start pursuing my career as a solo CHH artist and has been so since 2020. Still up and coming but definitely thriving. Jovan Jefferson (Lac Grizzly) has played a major part in my career thus far. He is my main producer and allowed me to become his artist under the label CaddyVision Productions. Now i’m just pushing forward in hopes to inspire or encourage someone thru music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t always been a smooth path. Life sometimes can be really difficult when it gets in the way of pursuing a dream. The biggest struggle for me was getting out of the norm. I used to be stuck on having the “idea” of pursuing my dream verses dealing with the reality of it. In order to get the change you have to make a change. So I started doing more than I wanted, but still doesn’t make to path smooth but it does start your journey to success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is M.O.V. (Man of Valor). I’m a CHH artist. Christian Hip Hop is what I create as it is also a part of my lifestyle. If you live it then it’s almost effortless to create an art form of it. The main genre for me is Rap/HipHop but I plan on dabbling into as many genres as possible. I believe God can reach many in any form of music so I try not to limit myself to a certain sound. I am most proud of the ability God has given me to do this! It’s one thing to be a fan of a thing but when you can actually get into it and actually make an impact is a whole another feeling. Music is a passion for me and I could see myself in this for as long as my body allows me to, I really can’t say what sets me apart from others though… all I know is that I asked God for the opportunity, He gave it to me now I’m blessing others.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The only trend I want to see is souls coming to Jesus and being saved!! I don’t have the desire to be famous or rich or anything like that. I just want to share about what the Lord has done in my life as well as what He can do for everyone who receives Him. Music is a universal language and that’s how I plan on speaking to all who is willing to listen. So I’m going as far the Lord allows me to only He knows!! Jeremiah 29:11
