Check Out Lianne Fulcher’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lianne Fulcher.

Hi Lianne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Family has always been my focus & what drives me. I was a full time homemaker, raising my 3 children. There were ups & downs, & ultimately our family experienced divorce. As a single mother, I knew I had to financially provide more for my family & had always had a love of hair & fashion & wanted a job of service where I could help others & make a difference in the lives of those in & around my community. I put myself through cosmetology school, with a close friend by my side, & entered salon life. I started as a commission stylist, working longer hours & pouring into my craft. With the help of family & fellow stylists contributing to my growth personally & professionally, I was able to transition to owning my own suite & becoming a small business owner allowing more flexibility for my work/life balance. This also allowed for more financial freedom for my family & quality time with my clients. After a few years in a suite, I now work with that same friend whom I journeyed through cosmetology school with, turning our over 20 year friendship into a work family as well. I still have control over my business, quality time with clients, & the fellowship with 3 women that I love spending my days with. After 15 years as a stylist, I have learned so much & still have a passion for this business as strong as the day I began. I’m thankful for every client that sits in my chair & when you love what you do, every day is filled with gratitude!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not all been smooth. Cosmetology school was overwhelming at times, & just the start of my education. In this industry there are long days, late nights, & working on Saturdays & missing out on certain events with family & friends. Customer service is vital as well, but you also learn that your services can be unvalued at times. Mistakes can be made, or judgement on yourself & your work. As a business owner, you also have to learn the business side in addition to constant education as a stylist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a hairstylist. I specialize in curly hair, precision cutting, blonding services, & lived in color. I am proud of my attention to detail & dedication to helping others feel confident & love their best self. I’m thankful I get to be a part of my clients lives & included in their special moments of life. I treat my clients as as more than just a client, because without them my business wouldn’t exist, so my customer service is an integral part of my business.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
There is a saying “without risk, there is no reward”, & I believe there is something to that thought. I think risks have to be weighed, & look at pro’s & con’s. My faith is what grounds me, so I use prayer to help in my decision making. I took a risk leaving my salon home & being a commissioned stylist, to being a business owner & taking on all aspects of the business myself & hoping my clients would follow me. I did lose a few when I made the move, but the many other benefits completely outweighed that risk. Taking that risk has been the best decision I ever made.
