Today we’d like to introduce you to Malaysya Giselle.
Malaysya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
“I’m Malaysya Giselle, and my story is really about resilience, creativity, and finding my voice. I started out in Chicago, grew up facing challenges that taught me to be strong and independent, and I’ve always had a passion for music and self-expression. I used to be a hairstylist, which helped me understand people, style, and presentation, but my heart was always in music.
Over the years, I’ve honed my craft as an artist, blending rap, R&B, and dance influences into my own sound, inspired by artists like Ciara and Janet Jackson. I’ve also managed life’s challenges—losing my mom, dealing with health issues, and balancing family responsibilities—while still chasing my dreams.
Today, I’m not just an artist; I’m a creator, a motivator, and someone who wants to inspire others to own their power and express themselves fully. Every step I’ve taken has shaped who I am now, and I’m still growing, still creating, and still determined to leave my mark.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve faced a lot of personal and professional challenges along the way. Losing my mom was one of the hardest moments of my life, and I had to navigate that grief while still taking care of my family and myself. I also dealt with health struggles, like having a colostomy bag and going through the reversal surgery, which really tested my strength and confidence.
On top of that, building my music career hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to push through slow progress, deal with people who didn’t believe in me, and find ways to create and grow with limited resources. There were times I felt isolated because I didn’t fit the mold, but I’ve learned to use that uniqueness as my power.
Every struggle—personal loss, health challenges, and career obstacles—taught me resilience, self-belief, and how to keep moving forward no matter what. It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s made me who I am today
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
“I started out in the beauty industry, known for my quick weave technique—30 minutes flat—and styling for top clients on movie sets and music videos. After retiring in 2020, I transitioned into music, blending rap, R&B, and dance influences to create my own sound. I’m proud of reinventing myself and staying true to my creativity. What sets me apart is my ability to innovate and bring authenticity to everything I do.”
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
“My advice is simple: be yourself and put yourself out there. Meet people, connect with those who inspire you, and don’t be afraid to learn from them. Finding a mentor isn’t guaranteed, but if you’re lucky enough to find one, it can be a game-changer—so stay open and surround yourself with great people.”
