Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos Suarez.
Hi Marcos, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My first steps in photography began in Venezuela in 2007 when I was 20 years old and played the role of photojournalist in a newspaper called La Prensa, which was just opening its doors in the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela. I must confess that I managed to get there thanks to a friend named Jorkin Corona, who was in charge of training me as a photojournalist. Motivated by seeing the work of my journalist friends, I decided to study journalism and work at the same time; it was the only way to pay for my studies… I managed to graduate in 4 years, and I stood out more and more until I achieved excellence with a lot of discipline and perseverance.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was definitely not a smooth road, since I had to study and work to be able to obtain my professional career, the most important thing is to be focused on what you want to do, be sure of yourself and believe that everything you do with dedication will always result. It will be positive. Another thing that was difficult for me was obtaining my own photographic equipment since they were very expensive, sometimes I chose to borrow a camera from a friend or simply bring the one from the newspaper with me without anyone knowing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
By profession I am an expert journalist in audiovisual arts, I specialize in social and corporate photography, brand management, content creation for social networks, TV commercials, I even manage to boost the brand of those who hire me. I am very proud to be able to be an immigrant who contributes positively to this country with good actions, with great projects, I am proud to be able to make my dream come true of continuing to be a professional here and being able to respect everyone no matter what country they come from. What differentiates me from others is that I look for a way to understand the client in the project they want to develop with me, letting them see that they have a professional in the area. Another thing that sets me apart is that I am very persistent in achieving my life goals.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I always liked growing up surrounded by adults, from a very young age I spent hours talking with people who could contribute more to my life. I tell you that I also grew up as a SCOUT, I was there for more than 20 years and that is where I learned to be a LEADER and not be afraid to take on big projects, I learned to love and respect others and nature. My hobby is to always learn new things in photography. It is a challenge because it is a world that changes daily, and there are always new things, so you must be learning or reading about new trends.
