Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcy White
Hi Marcy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off rapping and making music with a girl project and found out that I was really good at it . Believe it or not I’m kind of shy lol .
Once I received the support and love I took it to another level and bought my first beat from Zaytoven and and linked with bigga rankin.
I made industry moves that were needed at the time to get my music and my sound out there . I’m from Florida so when I tell you no one can rap, cuss and deliver like a Florida female rapper , I’ll bet my 401k on that .
So I’ve traveled the world , made dope music , connected with the best and developed a fan base outside of the ten that I’m from. That’s how much I love music . One of my biggest sins that got traction was Boomerang produced by coni cone out of Polk county and my by saucy Santana helped me grow wings with That one when he danced to it .
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth and the entertainment business doesn’t go. I’m a mom, I’m
A professional , I’m a lady, I’m a hustler so having to pivot and wear many hats has not been easy . I’ve had to change my name on ig at my peak just so my employer wouldn’t be looking me up because I work for a huge tech company lol. And sometimes I cut up on ig!
I’ve struggled with plateauing and not having that machine behind me to get my music in everyone’s hand . Not having the right marketing strategy at the right time . Worrying about relationships and opinions , life , being in a male dominated industry where a lot of money and control wins versus talent . Depressed days , days I couldn’t go to the yo because I couldn’t afford it , or had a writers block , gatekeepers, haters, not enough dedicated teammates, not the right business , so nope it hasn’t been smooth.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So I rap sing and I act . Rap music but I can hit a lil note or two . I’m known for selling out and my delivery . When you create music , it’s entertainment, you gotta make people feel excited to hear your music and relatable . Fun. I do that . My latest scale has been television and film and working on tv sets . They need to see this big smile on those flat screens .
I’m most proud of being who I am on the mic and being an entrepreneur. Stepping out on faith and still at it . I never stopped , I won’t !
