Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Smiley.
Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
So my background I’m a producer/engineer, my uncle who is also a DJ always used to encourage me to get into djing, he always said it would help me musically, so one year I invested in myself bought a controller, started practicing, uploaded a practice video on IG and the right is history, I’m an open format Dj that caters to all crowds, well versed in hip hop and rnb, weddings, and small or large Corp event, also I offer Karaoke, Trivia, and bingo services, I’m here to make sure my guest and future clients have an experience and lasting memories with me each and every time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, Covid-19 has been the only obstacle so far, of course, everything shut down but slowly but surely came back around to being open and wanting to entertain.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve been producing and engineering for 20+ years independently. I’ve worked in the music studio with some of the city’s biggest names, as far as djing what I’m most proud of is making people happy and taking their minds off the troubles of life, I’m a party starter and finisher, lol, I’m not afraid to get out on the dance floor and get the party going.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Wow, listen, I took a chance during the pandemic and stepped out on faith to DJ for free in downtown Duluth one weekend and that turned into monetary gain.
