Check Out Neisha Nycole’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neisha Nycole

Hi Neisha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Fashion was never my first choice. My story doesn’t include me “always wanting to be a designer”. As a matter of fact, 2020 was the first year I’d touch a sewing machine again in over 10+ years. This is how I know my path was God led. When I was about 8years old my next door neighbor Ms. Kim taught me and my little cousin how to sew. She taught us the basics like how to make a pillow. After that, I never saw a sewing machine again until my Sophomore year in High School. I’d taken a Home Economics class and a portion of that class was sewing. I loved it, but not enough to build on. I later went on to college at THEE Jackson State University where I majored in Social Work. Graduated 2016 with my Bachelor’s degree, moved back to Dallas, and began my adult work life! Shortly after this transition, I lost my passion for Social Work and got stuck behind a desk. I knew that wasn’t for me so I began to pray a prayer that changed my life… God direct my path. Now here I am! 2018 I randomly told my best friend I would make her a maternity dress for a photo shoot. I bought my very first sewing machine, and it collected dust lol. I never made the dress. That very next year I moved to Atlanta, then the pandemic hit in 2020 and I pulled out my sewing machine! While working from home I began making luxury robes and it quickly grew from there. I found love in the very first dress I created which surprisingly was a maternity dress for my other best friend. I continued to work on my craft and let God lead the way. Fashion design wasn’t something I prayed for day and night since I was a little girl, it was a desire God placed in my heart at a time he knew I needed it the most. In 2022 I made my first prom dress and it’s been a race to the top ever since! This has led me behind the scenes of music videos, photo shoots, red carpets, fashion shows, ETC

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has NOT been a smooth road at all. There were many of challenges that I faced within myself along the way. In the middle of me welcoming a passion for sewing I was also in one of the darkest seasons of my life. I battled heavily with depression and anxiety while trying to navigate a stable life for myself. I lived paycheck to paycheck and any business owner will tell you it takes money to make money. When I progressed to selling my items it was a combination of love for my craft as well as wanting to make a dollar. I quickly learned that chasing a bag would never get me to my purpose, but would leave me in hustle mode. My robes were a hit, but it died down and I struggled with pushing them outside of my then current audience. It took several shifts and turns within myself and my business for me to get where I am now. I had to completely changed my mindset about both life and business. I went from just wanting to sell a product to wanting to build an entire brand. This took a lot of long restless nights and countless hours of practice and studying. I walked away from a lot of habits and relationships to ensure I was becoming the best person I could be for my brand. This was not an easy feat.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a self-taught Fashion Designer and I manage a local fabric store in Norcross (Rosa Fabrics ATL). On the day to day I run the store using my knowledge and skills with fabrics while connecting some of the most amazing designers around. I have created a brand that specializes in Once In A Lifetime moments! Meaning I design for those special occasions in the lives of everyday people. Whether that’s a wedding, prom, annual corporate event, award shows, & even down to those extra special birthday celebrations! I’m mostly known for being a lover of gowns and designing with details. My heart beats fast for a well constructed gown that gives my ladies center of attention energy! I’m most proud of my growth in this industry. I went from creating robes for housewives to designing gowns for the BET Awards. One decision has led me to enter doors I never imagined opening. I believe my intentionality is what sets be apart. In everything I do I always strive to do it with integrity. From the moment I meet a client all the way to the completion of their garment I set the precedent for effective business models. This allows for my clients to not only trust me with the design, but also with the work I put into bringing it all together. They trust me to be on time, communicate, and show up as my honest and true self.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success is any step you take towards whatever short term or long term goals you have. It’s not always about those big and loud achievements. Sometimes it’s waking up and completing one task for the day. Other times it may be reaching a 5 year milestone. I count success by the days and each day that I’m striving to be better than I was yesterday is a success.
