Check Out Nickii Kane’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nickii Kane.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At age 13, I discovered photography after becoming disinterested in playing video games with my brother and our friends. Seeking a new adventure, I ended up exploring in my Mother’s closet and found a small pink digital Samsung pocket camera. I then needed to find a model to photograph so I made my brother stand in as my subject. He was always the “Mr. Pretty Boy” amongst our friends.

We look alike actually, almost like twins. It wasn’t long after developing my newfound love for photography that social media became the trend. Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr became the preferred platforms for showcasing photos, ideas and communicating amongst peers. I got involved and started posting the pictures of my brother. People responded positively, and I was pleasantly surprised.

My progression in wanting to learn everything I could about art naturally led me to pursue secondary education at Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts, located in Kingston Jamaica, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication. After a couple of years of studying graphic design, my simple childhood hobby presumed to make way for a professional career. I then applied my knowledge to other fields of interest. When you’re doing what you’re supposed to do, it seems to make a way for one to succeed. Since graduating college, I have established myself in Jamaica as a Creative Director for leading companies and trendsetters within industries ranging from; music, food & beverage, fashion, beauty, and travel.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a life-changing journey. As a woman in this industry, I have to choose what is important and what I will fight for. Through my talents, I had to learn some hard lessons to help build me as a person and as a professional. I have had some fun experiences and I’m blessed to receive the things I have through my talents. Met very influential and successful people, touched lives with my photos, helped build brands to the top and that’s truly the best feeling, to know your talents are helping others positively.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
