Check Out Nigel Goggins’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nigel Goggins.

Nigel Goggins

Hi Nigel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Uno. I’m a 24-year-old tattoo artist from Decatur, Georgia. I have always been into art my whole life, but I didn’t get serious about it until a couple of years ago. The idea of me becoming a tattoo artist was first introduced to me in college. There was a girl there doing tattoos out of her dorm, so I decided to get one. I watched carefully as she went through the entire process, and I remember thinking to myself, “I can do this too”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been ups and downs and some definite learning curves. In the beginning, I struggled with finding a reliable mentor, so it drove me to learn a lot of techniques on my own. I started tattooing on little oranges first, then I moved to fake skin, then I finally mustered up the courage to tattoo myself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a tattoo artist. I specialize in black and grey and cartoons/anime in color.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
For the next five years, I plan to travel to conventions and other shops across the nation and around the world. I would like to compete in a couple of contests as well as deepen my connections in the industry.
