Check Out Nubia Adams’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nubia Adams.

Nubia Adams

Hi Nubia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a multi-passionate creative all of my life, but many years before I began working in natural beauty, I made hair and skin products for myself in my kitchen. This led to research on proper formulation, ancient beauty techniques, and how to source edible ingredients that could serve as dual use in beauty and skincare.

The knowledge I desired in this field led me into the beauty industry, where I began working in health and beauty (HBA) and for a natural spa. I wanted to learn how to safely formulate my own skincare products; products that work but are also made with sustainably sourced ingredients, truly raw and organic, with little additives. I desired to keep all my ingredients plant-based and nearly edible, from colors to scents.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In retrospect, my journey has been a combination of both ease and resistance. I would say most of my struggles have come from my own perfectionism and resistance to the flow of change. Being more flexible and adaptable, giving myself more grace as I learn, learning marketing techniques, how to automate and plan ahead are challenges I still work through.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an afro indigenous, traditional herbalist, gardener, and artisan who utilizes plants as her medium. I specialize in holistic skincare formulation, natural beauty, plant-based nutrition, and herbal support for my community. I am most known for my work with plants and herbs as a grower and maker. I am the founder of NBU Bath Botanicals and NEBŪ Wellness. I am also a certified postpartum doula with a focus in perinatal nutrition and herbal support.

NBU Bath Botanicals are oil and clay-based, herb-infused, handcrafted consciously, and intended to keep your beauty routine simple yet effective. Our products are formulated to improve both your physical appearance and confidence in self.

What sets me apart is how I utilize nature palette in my work as well as my unique approach and originality when creating Nu products. All products are multi-use, ideas are spirit-led, techniques are ancestral inspired and approved. I have maintained a nontoxic skincare regimen for nearly ten years so I am confident in what works.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck is defined as success or failure brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions. My belief is that things are in perfect order and divine timing as they were written and intended. I also believe that our outcomes are influenced by what was spiritually aligned for us to have or experience. However, I would not say by chance because dependent on one’s own mindset, beliefs, level of action or inaction combined with the passion and purpose driving their goals, outcomes will naturally vary.

Luck is not significant in my journey because it would be discounting my personal power, ase, and the work I’ve put in to make my business a success. I have not experienced luck as much as I have experienced spiritual alignment and favor.

Whether success or failure as the outcome, I consider it all to grow me and align my highest good. To me, expecting luck is like expecting a harvest knowing you have no seeds planted. I have seeds planted all over, and I continue to water and nurture them for best results.
