Check Out Paige Hall’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Hall.

Hi Paige, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts about four years ago when I started going to get my nails done on a regular basis. I would go to the nearest salon that accepted walk-ins & get almost the same design every time. This got boring after about a year, around the same time, I discovered nail art other than glitter! First, it was marble designs & tiny flowers, then I started to appreciate and observe the process of creating an artificial nail. I bought my first ever acrylic kit on April 15th, 2019. It was nothing fancy, just the basics, but it was the start to my lifelong passion. I’ve been practicing ever since.

Before I started taking clients, I had to learn the basics, the main thing being proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques. I found an amazing online program that offered a variety of nail courses. The Academy of Nail Design’s full certificate program taught me about nail anatomy, cleaning and disinfecting, client care and so much more!

Fast forward to today, I am currently licensed as an apprenticing nail technician. This means that I am training for my nail technician license under a licensed master nail technician (or cosmetologist). I get to experience hands on training & real-life scenarios, I’m learning to manage my time & money, I get to work with an amazing group of women, and I get to build a client list.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The process has not been easy, as I chose a less traditional way of obtaining my license. My first struggle was figuring out where to start. I didn’t know anyone who had done an apprenticeship so it took a lot of reading to figure out what my best option was. My second struggle was finding someone willing to take on the task of teaching a beginner. I reached out to a lot of people and after a few months, I finally found my mentor (Ebonie Harper).

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an apprenticing nail technician but I consider myself a nail artist. My work is my passion and I express my love for art through nail art. Although I specialize in all nail art and design, my main area of expertise is hand-painted art. I’ve gotten to paint the Simpsons, Lisa Frank, Power Puff Girls, Coraline and so much more! I’ve always been artistic from drawing to painting and even makeup but nail art is my favorite form of creativity.

What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail and creativity. I notice as many imperfections as possible and correct them as I go. I also enjoy educating my clients on proper nail care & the products I use. I love when clients ask me questions about what I’m using on their nails as this allows me to tell my clients why I use the products I use.

I also love to go with the flow. Many clients bring me 2-3 inspo pictures, which gives me the opportunity to create unique design combinations for my clients. I get to customize all the details and bring their nail dreams to life!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is seeing how far I’ve come since my first appointment. I’ve gotten to meet so many amazing clients, I get to work with some amazing women and I get to express my creative abilities with miniature artworks!
