Check Out Paige Whiffen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Whiffen

Hi Paige, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I found a passion for hair in my early teenage years. It was my creative outlet for personal expression. I realized that through my own hair I felt more confident and comfortable in my own skin, and wanted to share that feeling with others. I started my journey towards becoming a hair stylist through an internship with the cosmetology school I later attended and graduated. I was fortunate enough to find Zeba, my salon home, right out of school. Sima, the founder, took me under her wing becoming a mentor in my life, a friend, and mother figure. She saw and brought out a side of me I never saw at that point. We opened up our second location which I was given the opportunity to manage and run. This came with many lessons to help me become the stylist, educator, and owner I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think owning or managing always will come with bumps in the road. It requires constant personal growth to allow you to serve and empower your team. I had to learn how to manage in the moment and have not always known how to serve others the best way for them. We have lost quite a few stylists with this ever changing career. Everyone we have lost has forced me to look in the mirror to see what I could have done differently as a leader to have served them better. The team we have built now is by far the best team I could have asked for. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned along the way that have guided me to becoming a better leader, better parent, and a better person.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Color is my love. Being able to create a beautiful lasting hair color that is completely customized for a person’s lifestyle and vibe is important to me. In my eyes color should be used to enhance a persons natural beauty or their personality!
Lived in color and color corrections are my specialty. Lived in color allows a person to have longevity in their look so they don’t have to constantly be in the salon to feel their best. The maintenance for lived in color tends to be 3-6 months which is perfect for someone with a busy lifestyle. Color corrections can be anything from a tonal change to a complete transformation. Transformations are a puzzle the whole way through, they allow you and the guest in your chair to work together to create something beautiful. Then they get to walk out feeling like a new human being!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Creating a connection with the person in my chair. I’m in a career that gives me the opportunity to learn a person and learn from people. I work hard to create a safe environment where others feel comfortable to be themselves. I’ve learned that the more I can learn about a person the better I can serve them to help them feel beautiful inside and out. I feel very grateful for everyone who chooses to share their story and hair with me!
