Today, we’d like to introduce you to Precious Azuka.
Hi Precious, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hi everyone, my name is Precious Azuka, and I am a model, designer, and creative based in Atlanta. I was born and raised in Nigeria and migrated to the US when I was 10 years old. I have always had it in me to be a model. I started practicing my walk at the age of 4 (lol), and when I came to the US, I tried to pursue it more, but due to school and other life events, I wasn’t able to.
I picked it back up at 18 and started reaching out to photographers for collabs but didn’t get much reach until a friend of mine who is an amazing photographer and creator reached out to me for a photoshoot. That inspired and pushed me so much to really take it all seriously. Since then I’ve had the honor of working with so many amazing and talented creatives.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many of my struggles came with choosing between being creative and choosing something “safe”. As a daughter of immigrant parents, I was always pushed to do something that was always guaranteed a job. And while I see the beauty in that, I always felt called to do what I’ve been drawn to.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a model and designer. I like to consider myself an overall creative because I like to try new things and be flexible with my creativity. I am proud of being able to make it this far with my modeling aspirations, I have been able to work with so many amazing people and learn so much from my journey.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned along my journey has been really don’t give up!
Even when it seems impossible or stunted! I got so many no’s when I started and still do but I never let a few no’s stop me from pushing forward because all I need is one yes from the right person when it is the right time. And stay true to yourself! Journeys tend to test you along the way and being able to find you’re self over again is a big part of growing as a person.
