Today we’d like to introduce you to RaQuita Weathers.
Hi RaQuita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m RaQuita Weathers, a working mother of two, married to the most supportive husband, and creativity has shaped every chapter of my life. Outside of home, I step behind the lens as a photographer and creative strategist, helping women feel confident, visible, and fully seen. Empowering women, especially women of color, has always been deeply personal to me. Watching them flourish in their purpose isn’t just inspiring. It’s the reason Belle Rouge exists.
Belle Rouge Company, LLC began in 2016, not with photography, but with dance. I started the brand as a women’s empowerment space where movement became a tool for confidence and self-belief. That early work taught me how transformative creative expression can be. In 2018, photography entered the picture and quickly became an extension of the same mission. Self-taught and driven by years of hands-on learning, Belle Rouge Photography emerged as the next chapter of that vision.
Over time, my work expanded beyond photography into videography, graphic design, and creative strategy. A background in corporate finance strengthened the business side of my creativity, allowing me to approach every project with intention, structure, and attention to detail. I also love being both in front of and behind the camera, which gives me empathy for my clients and the ability to guide them with confidence.
Today, Belle Rouge Co represents the evolution of Belle Rouge Photography into a full creative house built on experience, clarity, and thoughtful strategy. Whether capturing milestones or shaping brand identities, the goal remains the same: helping people step into ownership of their story and show up aligned with who they truly are.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I was building Belle Rouge while raising young children, supporting a marriage, and working a full-time career in finance. The balancing act was constant. For a long time, my business lived in the margins of my schedule as a weekend pursuit. When I reached the point where that “weekend gig” was matching my corporate salary, I knew it was time to take the leap.
Leaving stability to fully invest in my strengths was both empowering and uncomfortable. I had to confront my weaknesses, refine my systems, and commit to growing in ways I couldn’t have from the sidelines. What I learned quickly is that freedom of time doesn’t automatically equal productivity. Being more present at home also meant carrying more responsibility there, so the juggle never disappeared. It simply evolved.
What changed was the intention. I gained more dedicated space to build Belle Rouge with focus, and that shift allowed the business to mature alongside me. The challenges didn’t stop, but they shaped the discipline, boundaries, and clarity I operate with today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At its core, my work is about helping people see themselves clearly and show up with confidence. Through The Belle Rouge Company, I provide photography, videography, and creative strategy designed to elevate personal brands and meaningful milestones. I specialize in branding and portrait photography, with a strong focus on working with women who want imagery that reflects both their power and their softness. I’m known for creating an environment where clients feel safe enough to relax into themselves, and that comfort translates directly into the final images.
A defining chapter of my work has been my partnership with Keisha Reaves on the Moms in Focus Project, a portrait and interview series featuring 50 Atlanta mothers. The project paired high-end photography with deeply personal storytelling, ultimately becoming a 360-page luxury coffee table book distributed across the country. That series represents everything I care about creatively: honoring women, preserving their stories, and elevating everyday experiences into lasting art. Seeing mothers recognize their own beauty, strength, and voice on those pages is one of the accomplishments I’m most proud of.
What sets me apart is the blend of creative direction and lived experience I bring into every session. I understand what it feels like to be on both sides of the camera, and I pair that empathy with strategy. My background in business gives structure to my creativity, so clients walk away with more than beautiful visuals.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
AI has absolutely entered the photography and videography space, but it can’t replace authentic creativity or the emotional weight of creating something real. Audiences can spot artificial work instantly, and my clients value the ability to show up as themselves, not as a generated version of who they think they should be. While there may be a short-term surge in quick AI visuals, I believe that trend will level out as people return to craving human expertise, lived perspective, and genuine connection. The future of this industry still belongs to creators who understand feeling, story, and the power of real presence.
