Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Belcher.
Hi Raven, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In my teenage years, I started my business as a side hustle. One day, I decided I wanted to learn how to braid hair, and my very supportive mom decided to invest in me by purchasing my first mannequin head. I then connected with a good friend who knew about the hair braiding industry and was able to share her wisdom on various braiding techniques such as the “corn row”. From that day on I practiced diligently, utilizing family and friends as models until I mastered my craft. It was then I realized the talent I possessed would be the key to living a luxurious lifestyle that I desired.
In July 2015, I suffered a great loss with the passing of my mother. It changed my entire outlook on life and I was forced into a depressive state that resulted in about 2 years of self-reflection. Remembering my mother’s dying words telling me to graduate from school gave me the motivation I needed to register for cosmetology school. In May of 2022, my years of blood, sweat and tears paid off and I was officially a Licensed Master Cosmetologist! All these things and more contributed to how All Thingz Amaziing LLC came to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a new entrepreneur, there were many losses, setbacks that I would experience. One example being the pandemic. It was a devastating time financially for me due to social distancing. I had to be creative in my means of marketing to new clients and my ways of generating income. My journey has been neither easy nor smooth but entirely worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Master Cosmetologist and I specialize in hair care treatment for all hair types. I am highly praised for my work doing kid’s braids and loc maintenance. My proudest moment was graduating from school and watching my craft enhance over time.
I set the bar high because not only do I create genuine connections with anyone I service but I also provide quality service, I educate my clients, and I uplift their spirits and confidence!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
None of my stories would be possible without the inspiration of my mother. She was my first supporter when I decided this was something I wanted to pursue. I am forever grateful for that love and support for me to achieve my dreams, and I am achieving them daily!
