Check Out Rayvon Griffin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayvon Griffin.

Hi Rayvon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a kid, entrepreneurship was something that always stayed in the back of my mind. Being streets over from poverty stricken areas on the north side of Jacksonville, Florida I knew that being poor was not my destiny. Between my Dad’s business savvy and my Mom’s artistic influence on me, this was destined. Rayvon Creates started as my senior project in college and I bought my LLC with a scholarship that I won through my Fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi (shout out to my Nu Chi family). The road of entrepreneurship is still the scariest and most fulfilling thing that I have ever done. But it wasn’t until August 2019 that I was able to go full time, and before then, I had as many as two other jobs while still maintaining my goals and vision for Rayvon Creates. It has been through the help and support of my family, friends, and loyal clientele that I’ve been able to be on this journey, and for that, I am forever grateful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This road has been everything but smooth. Like everyone, I’ve had my highs and lows coupled with moments of self-doubt and frustrations. Between switching cities, temporarily moving back home, facing many rejections, surviving a sexual assault, and investing all of my finances in my dream. Just in the past year my life has changed so much, thankfully for the better but as I continue my journey through entrepreneurship, I look forward to growing and glowing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Rayvon Creates is black female-owned company providing non-commercial/ commercial photography and makeup services both domestically and internationally. Our chic and cozy home studio is based in Jacksonville, FL but we are available to travel and offer our services remotely. We are celebrating eight years in business as of April 14th and have serviced thousands of clients in that time. We appreciate all of the love and support we’ve received over the years and look forward to our continued growth and expansion.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Though the world of business may at times be cutthroat, I have been blessed to have met two other Black female business owners who have mentored and sowed so much into my business. I want to send a special thank you to Carissa Glanton of the Selfie Showroom (formerly Diamondeyez photography) and Janay White of J White Credit University. These two ladies are both monumental figures in the community and have helped shaped who I am as a business owner. I truly believe in giving people their flowers while they can smell them and these two deserve the best.
