Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Walters
Hi Renee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Renee Walters, Im originally from Chicago, Ill. I left home at 18 with a $5 bill to persue a different life lol. I got hired to sell books and magazines door to door all over the country. I did that for 3 years and I ended up moving to Atlanta where I started a career in retail management. I worked in almost every mall in Atlanta for a athletic sportswear company, while working my way up the management chain, I suffered a Spinal Cord Injury at my home. I fell 15ft out of the attic and fractured my spine, paralyzing me instantly. I went through a year and a half recovery learning to walk again. Unable to work I started making gift baskets and desserts, and a few years later my creativity has made me the owner of Chic Charcuterie and Catering.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road, there were many struggles, like financial issues, emotional and physical issues, not to mention mental issues. I feel like after my accident my life totally changed and it took a lot to adjust.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I own Chic Charcuterie and Catering llc, I make custom Charcuterie boards and cups as well as teach the art and origin of Charcuterie.
We are most know for our elegant and chic layouts at events. Our most popular has been our Charcuterie cups
Im most proud of overcoming every obstacle and maintaining my sanity through it all lol.
What sets me apart from others is I never worry about the competition, or what’s trending, I simply just be me, do my own thing and the magic happens!
How do you define success?
I define success by how happy and stress free a person is, success has many different nuances, what I deem successful many look totally different to someone else.
