Check Out Ricco “DJ Ricco Savage” Reeder’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricco “DJ Ricco Savage” Reeder.

Hi Ricco “DJ Ricco Savage”, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I guess you can say it runs in the family. My dad has been a DJ for 35 years, and as a young Chile I’d always listen to him aching late at night and sometimes end up beat boxing his mixes. I’ve always had a joy for music from learning to play the clarinet in elementary, and percussion in Marching band shout out to the BMMB at Fort Valley State University! At the age of 15 my dad purchased a DJ controller which I found interesting. I play with it and my dad showed me the basics on how to mix and blend music together. So it became just a hobbie or pass the time. Once I got to college at 18 I did a few college party and also helped my dad in a few events as well. But I never wanted to take myself seriously enough to want to DJ professionally…until one day my Ex’s bestfriend asked me to DJ his bday party when I was 25. From that party something awaken in me and I felt like I have to drive to give it a real shot. From that point on I’ve honed my craft doing more private events such as weddings, birthday party’s, and community events. In 2019, I got my 1st club gig at the loft and partner with my MC and now bestfriend Lulu Dallas, creating unmatched dynamic Duo. Later I would become doing more house party’s and eventually becoming the DJ for Anatomy X Sip n Paint which broaden my experience, as a DJ traveling around the country. I also got involved with working with some amazing artist such as Eli Liberty, Reb3l, Rahim Brazil and other LGBTQ artist as well. While building my brand over the years I’ve became a DJ for various clients such as Truth Midtown/Rockstar Productions, Trap Vibez, Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen, Nasem, AID ATL, M.E.N, HEAT, Frolic ATL and Bazzar Euphoria. Eventually, eventually I decided to begin event curating and coordinating myself. Some of which being Friends Fridays at Virgil’s, Katekhesish and TriF3cta with my brothers DJ Sleek and DJ lucky.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly I haven’t had any major challenges, honestly the most difficult I’ve dealt with is deal with lower ball offers and unprofessional promoters. At one point is was hard tryin to find what my brand was since I did soooo many different events…However knowing my worth and value has help me weave through this DJ lifestyle with more ease and decerment.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an open format DJ and in meaning I do play everything and there is no bounds to what genre of music I can play. When you hear DJ Ricco Savage you will be either singing dancing or both
most the time. With that being said what you can expect from me when you hear me soon are definitely some fire mash ups and mixes. I love to cross various music like a jersey/bounce beat with R&B, or a house beat with a rapper like Meg thee Stallion on it or even Doechii Afrobeats/amapiano beat. I love taking ppl around the world” as I say and I never want the same ole vibe you can hear just anywhere else. I want the people that hears me spin to experience all types of music. I also love a crowd reaction to their favorite song being remixed! I’m never afraid to experiment with the people at the event too but what also play it part is knowing who your coward is!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
