Check Out Ryan Linning’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Linning

Hi Ryan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve studied art almost my whole life. After doing art classes all four years of high school and studying every medium of art making, and being featured in “Who’s Who of America” by my art teacher, I knew art was going to be my calling. After graduation I briefly attended Georgia Southern University to study Music as my major as I am a trained musician as well but that journey didn’t quite pan out. I eventually came back home and attended American Intercontinental University to study art and see where this could lead me. After a few years I graduated from AIU in Buckhead in 2007 with a Bachelors Degree in Visual Communication specializing in Graphic Design. From there I started working with independent and mainstream artists, as well as underground and adult entertainment industries in Atlanta until 2018. While working the underground entertainment scene, I used the name Rick Heffner which I still use now as my entertainment name. I worked with promotional companies, night clubs, after hours clubs, swinger clubs, biker clubs, and just about anybody who needed graphic design services. I designed flyers, video promos, media campaigns, and much more to help these businesses promote events, products, movie premieres and much more. Then I started working with the Cannabis industry towards the end of 2018 designing product packaging, promotions for events, and also curating our events throughout the Atlanta area under my new company name “Jane Lyfe”. We’ve done culinary events, pop-ups, TV and movie productions and more stretching our portfolio and showing our range. Within our years of inception, we have become a full production company designing advertisements, product designs for multiple clients across the globe, thrown several events of different kinds, and branched out into different genres of entertainment that have all used my services. We also have our own fashion line, as well as helping other brands with their fashion designs. I am the Creative Director with Rapstar Energy Drink helping to cultivate their brand and design advertisements to visually communicate to the customer the benefits of drinking our energy drink. Jane Lyfe continues to thrive helping big and small businesses throughout the metro Atlanta area and worldwide.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No journey in life has a smooth road. It has been a challenge to overcome a few hurdles that come with the territory. But we’ve prevailed due to our unique takes on art that helps us stand out and have clients continuing to use our services despite artificial intelligence being more accessible to consumers and giving them options to do their own designs as well as self-design websites. We have been fortunate to have customers still trust our design knowledge in order to help design whatever it is they may need. Our market always has competition but we look at it as everyone has different interpretations of art so we stay in our lane and design off of what we envision when a client comes to us with an idea for a project. The main struggles we have at times are finding ways to stay creative in a world that has so many different views on what is art so we stay true to ourselves and design based off the skills we’ve learned over the years of schooling and designing for every walk of life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have done work for small businesses, large corporations, and celebrities such as Boosie BaddAzz, Big Gipp of Goodie Mob, Yung Ralph(aka Juug Man) and rising companies such Rapstar Energy Drink, Danko Farms Apparel, and local businesses such as Prohibition Liquor and Wine in Smyrna. I design flyers, logos, business cards, clothing design, Album Covers, promotional ads for social media, club and business promotion, video promos for events, products, and more. I also do photography and videography. I’m most proud of being able to give small businesses, music artists, movie and TV show productions their branding identity and having a chance to stand out above their competition. Being able to take their ideas from scratch and bring it to life for them to achieve their goals is something that I will always be proud of and I look forward to helping more clients realize their full potential with my designs. What sets me apart from others is I have my own unique style and approach towards my work whether its designing flyers, logos, or video projects, I’ve developed my own sense of style and try to stick to it while still learning new skills as new technology gives us new tools and programs to use.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Freedom means the most to me. As I’ve learned from college and working in my field over the years, having the full range of freedom to fully express my art has given me the best results in my designs and the best response from clients and those that view my art. Without full range of freedom, it’s like having one hand tied behind your back, but when you have full and free range and the ability to design whatever comes to your mind is a freedom like non-other. Having the ability to express yourself through visual art is something I studied over many years and now that I can help someone else’s dreams come true is something that I cherish and that’s what matters most.
