Check Out Ryan Neikirk’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Neikirk.

Hi Ryan , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I originally got into photography back in my high school days. My father always loved taking pictures on old film cameras and it always intriguing me. When I graduated High School I moved to Marietta to attend college, and my first job in the area was Wolf Camera. I was surrounded by photography for 7 years while at wolf camera and learned so much and met tons of people. For the next 10 years I traveled the country doing music festival photography and interviews, as well as weddings and portraits in my down time. I decided to open my own business in 2023 and focused myself on wedding, portrait, and corporate photography. I travel wherever the lens takes me in the southeast.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are many struggles in this industry. For me there were two. Finding a niche is one, dedication to one area of photography can be daunting. Also, dealing with over saturated markets can make it hard to get work and clients. But staying focused, motivated and producing great work always prevails.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work mostly with family doing either portrait or weddings. It’s always fun to sit down and listen to what people are looking for in a session, and then bringing those ideas to life.
I also work in the community with small businesses to help provide exposure and marketing material. What I enjoy mostly about all this is the relationship you get to build with people. A lot of my work comes from word-of-mouth, so it makes me proud to know I’m doing good work. I also think that’s what sets me apart from the others.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Running around with my dad in the woods taking photos and exploring. He’s the one who originally got me into photography, he gave me my first film camera.
