Check Out Sarah Strohschein’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Strohschein

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Minnesota and earned a degree in Marketing from St. Cloud State University, where I also played Division II volleyball. Growing up as an athlete shaped who I am today—I credit much of my personal and professional success to the discipline, competitiveness, and teamwork I developed through sports. I also believe it’s especially important for young girls to gain confidence and build trust in other women, something that sports helped instill in me.

Shortly after graduation, I took a leap of faith and moved to Charlotte, NC. It was a risk, but I’ve never been afraid of change or stepping outside my comfort zone. That mindset has fueled my independence and shaped my career. I spent 15 years working as a manager in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. When I started, the organization wasn’t a major presence, but in my second year, the team made it to the Super Bowl, which completely changed the trajectory of my role. Those 15 years were both exciting and challenging, and I thrived in the fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Another pivotal moment in my journey was my move to Atlanta. I wanted to live in a bigger city, so I made the bold decision to resign from my stable job, sell my condo, and move—all within a month. I took a role as a key account sales rep for a sports lifestyle brand, working with professional and collegiate teams and leagues. It was a great experience, but when COVID-19 hit and the sports industry came to a halt, I was furloughed.

Once again, I found myself at a turning point, and I acted quickly. A few years prior, my sister—who is a successful real estate agent in Charlotte—encouraged me to get my real estate license. I had it, but I wasn’t using it. With the sudden career shift, I decided to give real estate a real shot. My first listing appointment as a brand-new agent was a learning experience—I didn’t get the job, but that rejection fueled my determination. I knew if I was going to succeed, I needed to learn from the best. So, I went home, googled “Top Real Estate Agents in Atlanta,” and interviewed to join one of the top teams in the city.

That decision was a game-changer. I had the opportunity to convert leads, and I quickly realized I had a talent for it. I gained invaluable knowledge from my team leader, who had been in the business for 40 years. In those first few years, I built my skills, closed a significant number of deals, and became a top producer.

With that success and experience under my belt, I had the confidence to go out on my own, which led me to Engel & Völkers. I continue to thrive in this industry— in 2024, I was awarded the #3 agent for both units and volume at my brokerage and remain in the top 5% of Atlanta REALTORS®. My passion is elevating the real estate experience. I believe my background in marketing, my professional career in sports, and my love for the intown Atlanta lifestyle have all contributed to my success.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to success hasn’t always been smooth. Getting into college was my first major challenge—I wasn’t the best student in high school, and I was accepted into St. Cloud State University on probation, with the requirement to take special classes to prove I could handle the coursework. But I was determined to succeed. By the end of my first year, I had worked my way up to a 3.0 GPA. I credit much of that success to the structure and discipline of playing college sports. The time management skills I developed as a student-athlete, along with the influence of my teammates—many of whom were serious students—helped me stay focused and push myself academically.

When it came to getting jobs, I didn’t face much rejection. I had been working as early as I legally could, so by the time I graduated college, I had built a strong résumé and wasn’t afraid of hard work—glamorous or not. I took on every opportunity with a strong work ethic and a willingness to do whatever it took to succeed.

One of the biggest factors in my career growth has been knowing when to pivot and refusing to become complacent. I have always enjoyed being challenged and taking risks—it’s just part of who I am. I never had a financial safety net or a partner to lean on, so I relied on myself. I thrive under pressure, and that mindset has been key to my success.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Something that might surprise people about me is that I’ve never been married, and I don’t have children— I truly love my life as a single person. I’ve always embraced my independence, and I think that has played a big role in my success. Without the traditional milestones that many people focus on, I’ve had the freedom to take risks, make bold career moves, and fully commit to my passions.

I’ve moved to new cities on a whim, changed careers without hesitation, and built a business that I’m incredibly proud of—all on my own.
