Check Out Sinora Cole’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sinora Cole

Hi Sinora, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Sinora, and I’m an artist born and based in New York City, raised in Broward County, Florida. I sing, rap, engineer, and produce, and I’ve been actively involved in music and the industry for about five years.

My journey began as a rapper. I made the decision to quit college basketball to focus entirely on music, though at first, I wasn’t sure what direction to take. My best friend, Ember, and I even considered moving to London to figure things out, but my mom wasn’t supportive of that idea. So, instead, I moved to New York City and finished school while pursuing music.

During school, I interned at multiple studios, juggling those opportunities with a part-time job at Whole Foods. Eventually, I quit that job to spend my nights at the studio after class. Since I lived far away in the Bronx, I decided to move out of my grandfather and cousin’s place and rent a small band space illegally to sleep, just to be closer to the studios.

That decision opened doors for me. I met the right people and landed my first opportunities, including working with Pop Smoke, Brockhampton, 22gz, and Kranium and more. My commitment to music grew, and I became a full-time intern and engineer after leaving school, though my first six months were cut short due to COVID. Despite the pandemic, I stayed involved by helping out studio owners, cleaning up, and finding ways to stay connected to the scene.

At the beginning of 2021, I started at Engine Room Audio. After just two and a half months, I became Bobby Shmurda’s main engineer and recorded his first singles upon his release. This allowed me to work with several celebrities and artists I had grown up listening to, all while continuing to develop my own music and skills.

In 2022, my cousin and I finally achieved a long-time goal of owning a studio. Although it wasn’t exactly what we had envisioned at first, it became a crucial part of my growth. Being a studio owner gave me a space to record my own music and a permanent place to call home, after years of being told to go home from other studios for staying too late or not going home. This experience has been instrumental in shaping where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey at all. When I started making music, I didn’t know anything about anything. I couldn’t even rap my own lyrics to people I didn’t know out loud yet. I had to develop my confidence and practice a lot. I didn’t even really play my music out loud to people when I first started. I just developed my confidence as I learned taught myself how to engineer and got better. After Covid all the studios I had grown and put time in closed down, so I had to restart and get back in the game. Luckily for me I had sent emails out to all major studios in the city and engine room got back to me. It’s been a bunch of bumps in the road. We even almost lost the studio in our first 8 months of because one of our partners pulled randomly and lefts us in a bad situation. But with the help of our community we were able to save it which I’m eternally grateful for.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets me apart from other artists is my versatility across different genres. Growing up, I was exposed to a wide variety of music, and I strive to incorporate that diversity into my sound. I write and engineer all of my work, which has become my specialty. Writing was my first passion, followed by engineering, and those skills have given me the tools and knowledge to break into the industry. I consider myself a multi-hyphenate—I sing, rap, produce, engineer, and more. That’s what I want to be recognized for: my ability to do it all.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important thing I learned is building empires take time and to create that solid foundations you have to go through a lot to know how to move when certain obstacles come in the future.
