Check Out Sonia Lackley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonia Lackley

Hi Sonia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

My passion comes from sitting in the kitchen watching & helping my grandmother prepare, prep & cook dinner every day & cook large Sunday dinners for our family. Not too mention I love food and I love to see the look on people’s faces when they taste my cooking. Cooking has taught me the importance of quality, love, and dedication in every dish I prepare. I just love decorating & setting up events for special occasions & this is what led me to wanting to start my own catering business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Noit has not been a smooth road. but it has been worth all the things I have learned along the way. I have given up several times, when I felt like I was not good enough or talented enough. Learning to navigate my pricing, realizing that I am not like everyone else & my recognizing my self worth has been my biggest takeaway from this journey & just learning that I am good enough & that my shills & food are superb lol!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the CEO/Owner of Sonia’s Sensational Catering & Events LLC. I specialize in Southern cooking & baked goods. I am a done South Georgia girl!I love to bake all kinds of desserts, cakes & pies. I am known for my all around cooking & baking! I’m most proud of how far I have come! I recently catered a large women’s retreat with a diverse menu accommodating multiple dietary restrictions, where we received overwhelming praise from the all of the guests for the quality and customization of each dish I served from start to finish. What sets me apart from others is that I incorporate God in everything I do, from the cooking of the meals, to the setting up of an event- I like to listen & work closely with my clients to bring their vision to fruition to make sure that I accommodate all dietary needs.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel that my resilience & me believing in myself & my abilities has been very important to my success. Also my love for people & serving not just food – but serving others by interceding & praying for them has also led to my success. God has been so good to me & I can never thank him enough!Even though I am a small black owned business I truly believe that this is just the beginning & I have to trust God’s timing & the process & keep pushing forward.
