Check Out Sora Stinson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sora Stinson

Hi Sora, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started photography a little over 7 years ago. My first job was with Cady Studios, working with high school seniors and their athletic program. I’ve worked with many different companies throughout the years in all different states such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Eventually working my way to my current job at Photography Concierge, working at The Ritz Carlton. In my personal business I work primarily with queer artists, taking action shots of drag, self portraits and family sessions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Art is almost never a smooth road. Lots of bumps and potholes and occasionally flat tires. I’ve always traveled a lot of my jobs, making sure I can provide art for my clients no matter where they’re located. My style is also uniquely my own so sometimes I’ve clashed with other artists on what makes photography beautiful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a queer photographer. Specializing in family photography, self portraits, and studio work. I think I’m known mostly for my work in the drag community, taking action shots of stunning performances and capturing their essence on the stage. I’m most proud of my self portraits, loving yourself can be a hard journey and especially now that I’m taking testosterone, I’ve challenged myself to create monthly self portraits to capture my transition. I think just being yourself sets you apart from others, not necessarily that I’m better in any way. Just that I’m me and you’re you.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’ve recently moved to Atlanta from Athens Ga. And before that I was traveling in an RV for 2 years. I think the city is a big change and I’m hoping to build my personal business here and give the queer community and platform to grow and see how beautiful everyone is.
