Check Out Sunil Ford’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunil Ford.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first started photography when my wife was writing her first book. We were looking to hire a photographer to take the images for her cover and the prices the photographer was giving me was too high. So I decided to go to the pawnshop and buy my own camera to take the images. After people saw her images, they thought the images was great so they wanted to book me. After about 3 bookings, I said I maybe on to something here, then I started investing and the rest is history.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been smooth sailing. The main problem I ran into in the beginning was no local photographer wanted to help. They looked at it as competition. I sent out professional emails and even offered to shadow them for free. Some said no, others said yes but never held up to their word. So I started researching and watching YouTube videos, going to photo walks out of state and practicing practicing practicing.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a published Photographer, I specialize in weddings and creating content for up-and-coming models. what I am most proud of is the fact that I’m self-taught I have the opportunity to teach others how to become a better photographer and become a better business person and how to help others even the odds are against you. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I don’t look at other photographers as competition but I look at us as a community. If I can help one or 20, I’m going too. I promised myself that I’m never going to do photographers the way that a lot of local photographers did me. At the end of the day, there’s enough business out here for everyone.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is a me and my cousin found it great joy in cooking french fries every day you couldn’t tell us that we wasn’t official chefs that was like a full-course meal.
