Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Tamares.
Sydney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a self taught family photographer. I’ve always considered myself a creative person and grew up in the arts. In my college years, I worked as a nanny for children aged 4 months to 5 years and always took pictures throughout our day to send to parents so they didn’t feel like they missed out on too much! For birthdays or holidays, I’d always set up little mini photoshoots as an activity and sometimes the parents would use the photos for their holiday cards which gave me the idea to start really looking into photography as something to do on the side. When I graduated from college, I used some of my graduation money to buy my first camera and have slowly built Sydney Julia Photography from the ground up. All of my business is word of mouth and while I’m not quite able to go full time yet, I stay busy on the weekends with all my shoots.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road! I had a lot of trial and error and tons of self doubt when I first started out. 3 years later and I’m still learning as I go but have loved it every step of the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started Sydney Julia Photography back in 2022 and focus on newborn and family lifestyle photography. What I love most is being able to let families play and be themselves so we capture those magical candid moments that I call the “chaos in between.” The real cheesy smiles and giggles, the big warm hugs, etc. I really try to give my families the space to warm up to the camera so I can capture what is true to them. I believe my experience with children as a nanny and now primary school teacher allows me to work really well with families and make the experience enjoyable even for the littles!
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
As a little about me, I live in Roswell with my husband and two fur babies Sansa and Malibu. We also have a baby due April 2026 and I’m so excited to capture all of his memories and milestones as he grows.
