Check Out Tanesha Hill’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanesha Hill.

Hi Tanesha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been a cosmetologist for nine years, but I have dreamed about becoming a world-renowned stylist for as long as I can remember. So much so that I have invested and sacrificed everything. I’ve lost friendships, relationships, family, money, etc… I’ve even faced homelessness. 11 months ago I left my hometown with little savings and no place to go. My children and I stayed in a shelter for three months until I was blessed to land a job working for a celebrity stylist and was able to afford a small apartment, all for the sake of my dream. Some would consider these acts selfish, however, I consider them to be courageous. Having the courage to keep fighting, face adversity, believe In yourself and follow your dreams no matter the costs or consequences is no easy task. That is why I have learned to be extremely humble and not only grateful for every opportunity, but I cherish them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has been anything but smooth, lol… I would say that I’ve dealt with a lot of delays and distractions. Poverty, betrayal, and doors being slammed..lol.. just to name a few, but my biggest obstacle or challenge was me. I’ve come to understand that I was my biggest problem. My mindset my insecurities, and my fears held me back from a lot of opportunities. I had to conquer me in order to thrive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a beauty professional. I have been in the industry for nine years now. I’m currently a lace specialist, meaning I specialize in installing lace frontal wigs. However, I do have an extensive background in working with commercial extensions and natural hair. I’m most proud of the fact that I have the ability to change my client’s entire perspectives of themselves. I have a hand in helping them to not only find and mold their self-image but to help give them the confidence to stand boldly in their power.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a visionary. I had an amazing imagination I loved to read and would imagine what my life would be like as the characters in the book. I was very popular even though I was a loner at heart and preferred to be alone people just seemed to be drawn to me. I was a great student track, cross-country and the band were just a few of the activities I participated in.
