Today we’d like to introduce you to TaQuora Morris.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Wooo!!… Well, it all started 2009 falling in love with makeup and wanting to learn more about it. Watching YouTube tutorials and practicing on myself in the mirror and on friends for free. So fast forward to 2013, I begin to specialize in natural locs and faux locs. I was inspired by my natural locs and getting compliments about my Locs. So what was a better way to stay in the lane that I knew best about. Plus, my desire was to always help others protect their crown the healthier way. So I started accepting clients and that’s when I made a huge decision. I moved to Atlanta! I saved actually $2000 just to leave in my little Honda hooptie, didn’t know anything about Atlanta, I didn’t know where I was going to stay but God made it happen for me in all in two months of putting myself out there. Networking, working at a makeup kiosk in the mall from 10am to 5pm and sometimes until 9pm to asking to be a mua for fashion shows, photoshoots, parties, accepting hair clients, etc… and that’s when the bank starts rolling in lol. So let’s fast forward a little more 2020 .. had a little milestone, who doesn’t, we are all human and still learning.
So I had to make a well-needed decision to move back home, which is North Carolina I was devastated but I turnt that devastation into a huge commitment to be done with work a regular 9 to 5 and being unhappy to finally know what a “MY SEASON” felt like, something I dreamed of since I was 16. I became a Full-Time Faux Locs Specialist 2020 while the pandemic was going on. I couldn’t believe it I Ta’Quora made it happen with the help from my clients through word of mouth and social media promotions that I was posting daily. Though I am called an entrepreneur, I begin to call myself an Artist. Not only I do hair makeup, I like to set trends with my fashion sense, make things with my hands as to what they call it DIY, invest into products that clients or supporters will love to have or customize things by hand and make a profit off of good quality items, make videos of me doing my hair, doing client hair, makeup on camera…. I can just do about anything with my hands and I thank God for the gift of creativity, which stuck with me since I was six years old with me playing in the mirror in my mom’s makeup kit lol when she went out and playing dress up.
2022 !!! I’M EXCITED ABOUT THIS YEAR TO COME. Wish me luck.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m not a person to sugarcoat at all so I will admit It has not been a smooth road. I’ve experienced depression since I was 16 years old, working 9 to 5 for a minimum wage check that couldn’t even help save up for a car, not having a place to stay and became homeless, heartbreaks because of relationships that didn’t do me any good, losing my home and a car all at the same time, getting in trouble and moving a little to fast, helping others when I needed to help myself while still chasing a dream and not losing my faith in it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I like to call myself is an Artist but what I am known to be is Entrepreneur or a hustler as what my people in the streets will call me lol who specializes in Faux Locs, Makeup, Clothing Design and a DIY maker.
What I am proud of? … I am proud of going so hard like I do. Not giving up even when I was afraid of the worst that may come. I am proud of all the lessons I went through because all those lessons became a blessing. I would be who I am today without going through those trials and tribulations. I am proud of not letting the No’s! Stop me from being my authentic self and doing what a Rebel should do and that making change for the better.
What sets me apart from others … again being authentic, being courageous and being unorthodox in everything I do. I like to set trends but it comes naturally.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Okay…hmmm I’ve always been a risk taker since I can remember, lol but if I can give you an example to when I notice exactly I was a wild card lol … I like to call it is when I notice “ if I can leave a relationship that hinders me from pursuing my dreams regardless how much I loved you” or I will pick up and go where ever by impulse to pursue my dreams and here’s a good one lol I JUST DO IT ! no matter the hiding fear behind it I JUST DO IT.
