Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Covington
Hi Tara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During a significant portion of the pandemic, I found myself in California as a stay-at-home mom, eager to expand my horizons beyond caring for my children. I craved a way to earn an income on my own terms. One day, while scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon a video discussing the potential for making side income through voiceovers. It immediately resonated with me, as my father had worked at a radio station, hosting a weekend morning show and doing voiceover commercials. I felt this could be the perfect fit for my aspirations.
I took the plunge into freelance voiceovers, which eventually led me to user-generated content (UGC)—a term I didn’t even know at the time. A year later, I relocated to Georgia and embarked on a real estate career while navigating a difficult breakup. As a newcomer, the real estate market was challenging, and I needed to find ways to make ends meet. That’s when I immersed myself deeper into the creative realm, discovering that what I had been doing for the past year had a name.
I began researching UGC and building my personal brand. Today, I collaborate with various companies to help them market their products and engage consumers effectively. Balancing my roles as a UGC creator, realtor, and, most importantly, a mother, I feel incredibly grateful for the journey God has led me on. I’m excited to see what the future holds!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has certainly had its challenges. Whenever you venture into something new, there’s a learning curve that can be daunting. As a perfectionist, I often struggle with not knowing everything or feeling hesitant to ask for help. However, this experience has taught me an important lesson: I don’t have all the answers, and there are always others who possess greater knowledge. I’ve learned to immerse myself in environments that push me out of my comfort zone, reminding myself that the only truly foolish questions are the ones left unasked. Embracing this mindset has been crucial to my growth and development.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m both a real estate agent and a UGC creator, specializing in the intersection of beauty, fashion, home décor, and architecture. I love blending these passions to create engaging content that resonates with audiences. What sets me apart is my ability to showcase properties not just as listings but as inspiring lifestyles, drawing on my creative background to highlight the unique qualities of each space. I take pride in crafting authentic narratives that connect with potential buyers and consumers, making the experience feel personal and relatable.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My top piece of advice for anyone just starting out is to cultivate confidence. Whether you’re a newcomer or have years of experience, confidence is what truly sets you apart. In the world of sales, people are more likely to buy from those they like and trust, so believe in yourself and your abilities. Remember, your authenticity and self-assuredness will resonate with others, making a lasting impression.
