Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor-brinaé
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started singing at the age of 4. I performed on stage for the first time when I was 6yrs old, that’s when I knew I wanted to be a famous singer. The first song I sang on stage was “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus. When the crowd was cheering for me, I felt so loved and happy. I’m now 10 years old and I have released 3 songs to all streaming platforms. They are “Louder”, “Be Good In School”, and the one I just released is called “Don’t Cry”. “Don’t Cry” is so special to me because it is about my personal experience with being bullied when I was 8 years old. From as early as 2yrs old, my parents noticed that my right eye would wander sometimes, mainly when I daydreamed. As I got older it got worse. To the point where now it was more noticeable and my classmates could see it. They would constantly say, “Eww why does your eye do that”, “Are you crossed eyed”, “You look weird when you do that”, or “You look ugly when your eyes do that”. I would come home and cry to my mom about it, asking her why are my eyes like this? and sometimes I would not want to go to school. My mom would tell me that I’m beautiful just the way I am and that God made my eyes perfect. We went to see eye specialists to see if its something that we could do and they said that, there was no eye muscle issue or straining, my vision wasn’t being affected, and that there is nothing that we could really do. They said my eyes are fine and that’s just how they are made. My mom, Korin Lane is a singer/songwriter and decided to write this beautiful song called “Don’t Cry” for me, to give me a voice and empower me and others to not care what people say about us, because it doesn’t matter, when you know who you are. Around 9yrs old I discovered that I could actually control my eye from wandering. I could feel it move and I started controlling it to go straight. Now I want to inspire other kids with my music and go to schools and help kids with my story and show bullies the affects of their actions and to STOP BULLYING!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My experience with bullying has been the biggest struggle. Now that I am better and feeling confident about myself, everything has been smooth. I’ve been performing all over Atlanta, and living my best life on stage.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a 10yr old powerhouse singer, dancer, actress, content creator, and brand ambassador. I’m known for having such a powerful voice to be a kid. I’m most proud of myself for overcoming being bullied and not letting it affect my career. I think what sets me apart from others is the fact that I will give you a high energy show, with dancers and you will be amazed that I’m only 10yrs old.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see me touring the world and speaking at schools and impacting the world with my music.
