Check Out Teddy Axel’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teddy Axel.

Hi Teddy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got started in music actually by my aunt Kay. I was amazed by the art of actually creating music. I was in talent shows, producing music and writing since I was ten years old. As I grew up in Texas, I tried to get signed and actually caught ears of A/R by the name of Chris Label from New Orleans. He was working for Rap -A-Lot records during that time. Although it didn’t pan out, I learned the business side. That is the most important side of music. Work ethic and knowledge wins over talent always. As I got older, I found my way in Atlanta. I felt like ATL had the different sound due to OutKast and Jermaine Dupri… Different sounds but very accepting… I did a lot of free promo for events such as passing out flyers etc. I also shook a lot of hands that pointed me in the right direction. That’s all I needed was a crack in the door. I decided, “I can do this” and formed my own imprint.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, absolutely not a smooth road. I worked hard just to live but it takes money to make money. My first stop was in Decatur Ga on memorial drive. It was different and I just popped up out of nowhere. People have been there for years and know each other. I was a total stranger. People watched how I move and labeled me as nonthreatening so I was accepted a lot more. Young Hot may he rest in peace was a bubbling artist in the early 2000s. He took me under his wing and allowed me to make extra money with him in certain shows. I was living in a men’s boarding room then eventually got my own hotel room than my own apartment. I remember stretching 11$ for four days after my room was paid. On top of that, my two twins came to live with me and it was days they ate but I couldn’t. It was difficult times.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a real C.E.O I just signed my first artist from Texas name Goyard DK. I’m an artist also but I’m leaning toward acting. We shoot our own videos we market our own music with some professional help of course. At this moment I’m writing a script for a mini movie pitching the concept to online networks such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. We’re not concerned if they pick up the concept, we will head straight to YouTube. I’m mostly proud of the fact that I never gave up. What sets me apart is when someone else is winning I can stand up and clap for them. If you want better for your family somebody has to go through the fire in order for your family to reap the benefits.

What matters most to you? Why?
Besides my kids, I’m allowed to get up every day and continue to do what I believe in.
