Check Out Turbo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Turbo.

Hi Turbo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hip-hop gave me a voice before I fully understood how to use it. I started recording on my phone, treating it like a hobby—but never realizing the value of what I was building. Over time, I saw this wasn’t just a pastime; it was my craft and calling. I’ve dropped tapes like The Answer, Top of the Ladder, Inauguration Day, and Money in the Bank—each one a step forward in confidence, complexity, and clarity. My sound is alternative, sharp, and emotional—rooted in anime, ambition, pain, and survival. I build slow, with purpose. No throwaways.

I’ve lived through real loss. I lost two close friends, Justin and Keem, to separate hit-and-runs. That pain changed me. I’ve faced depression, anxiety, legal pressure, and the constant grind of school. I’ve earned two degrees—one in General Studies and another in Network Security—and now I’m pushing through Nursing school. But music? That’s what kept me grounded. That’s what brought me back.

My goal is bigger than just making music—I want to inspire people to chase their dreams and do what makes them happy. I show people they can do it too. Whether it’s 20 listeners or 2,000, I treat every track like it’s the one. Because every move I make is tied to something bigger than me. I’m Turbo—and this isn’t just music. It’s memory. It’s movement. It’s legacy.

S/o God.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t been smooth at all. Along the way, people I once trusted switched up and betrayed me. That kind of pain cuts deep—it’s not just about setbacks; it’s about loyalty broken and learning who’s really in your corner.

Dealing with that, plus depression, anxiety, and the pressure of school, made everything heavier. But those struggles shaped me. They pushed me to find strength in my craft and keep moving forward, even when everything felt like it was falling apart. Music became my outlet and my lifeline—it’s what saved me and gave me purpose. Every setback was a lesson, and every challenge made me more determined to build something lasting.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m Turbo — I’m LeBron for a reason. Been grinding since my first tape, Supreme Dreams. What started as just messing around on my phone turned into something serious. Music is my craft, my calling. I do alternative hip-hop with sharp lyrics and real emotion—everything I’ve lived, everything that drives me, from anime to the daily hustle.

Every project is a new level. From Supreme Dreams to The Answer, Top of the Ladder, Inauguration Day, and Money in the Bank, I’m always leveling up—more confidence, more depth, music that hits different. I don’t throw away songs just to fill space. Every track means something.

What sets me apart? I keep it 100. I’m not just rapping to sound cool—I rap to inspire, to share my story, and to show that anyone can rise. Whether I’m in front of 20 people or a thousand, I bring that LeBron energy—ready to take over the game. This isn’t just music. It’s my legacy.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see hip-hop and the music industry as a whole getting even more connected and creative. Technology is changing everything — from how artists create to how fans experience music. I think we’ll see more independent artists owning their work, using platforms and tools that let them reach fans directly without the middlemen.

Trends like AI, virtual reality concerts, and interactive experiences will redefine what it means to be a fan and an artist. The lines between genres will keep blurring, and authenticity will be king — people want real stories and vibes they can connect with.

For me, that means staying true to my voice but also adapting, pushing boundaries, and using whatever tools are out there to build my legacy and inspire others. The game is evolving, and I’m ready to evolve with it.
