Check Out Weekend Evidence’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Weekend Evidence.

Hi Weekend, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Weekend Evidence has been a passion project of Saturn Bradford since 2012 with a few iterations over the years. When their cousin Emily Tostado approached Saturn with a desire to start a band in 2023, the creative chemistry built throughout their childhood together took project Weekend Evidence to a new level. They started working on a set of alt-rock covers to perform in the Atlanta area. Then, after writing their first original song together, they knew they had something special. They built that momentum with more originals and recruited longtime friend and fellow musician Mo Casey. The trio would go on to gig at local bars and venues like Coolray Field. Once they established their presence as a local band, they were ready to bring in drummer Bryan Mayo. Saturn previously worked with Bryan at a music school and was impressed with the multi-instrumentalist’s ability to build his own equipment. The alt-rock band now has written over 20 songs together and is excited for their first show as a foursome and recording their single in December.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As the band members started writing original music together, it was a challenge to combine everyone’s musical background and style into a uniform sound for the band. Mo has a background in metal and pop punk, Saturn’s is folk and orchestral, and Emily’s is musical theatre and 2000’s rock. They have worked together to find an alternative sound that is unique to them, combining the energy of rock and the intimacy of indie.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We offer deep, pensive rock with wide-ranging topics, both relatable and adventurous. Our songs delve into subjects like abusive relationships, sibling rivalries, identity crises, and triumph over mental illness. We color darkness with three-part harmony and the expressiveness of theatrical story-telling and indie poetry. We take the most pride in our ethic, rehearsing weekly and turning out songs quickly without sacrificing originality or quality.

What makes you happy?
The band’s greatest happiness comes when the crowd sings an original song. That’s a high that can’t be beat. It creates such a feeling of community and mutual appreciation.
