Check out Pea the Feary’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pea the Feary.

Pea, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I consider myself an Afrofuturist. My work is about possibility, potential and realization. I am a strong believer in universal consciousness and I aim to spread the idea that everything in the universe is connected. The possibilities of what the universe can provide are endless and all within reach because we are already connected to everything. I want as many people as possible to understand that they are a part of every bit of this world. That gives us the power and the right to make things happen. I believe that the black voice, (the voice of the black woman especially) is one that when used, can be the voice that will lead society towards expansion. The same particles that make up the stars in the sky and water in the ocean are in all of us. All that matters are how those particles are arranged. I truly believe that this concept can be understood by the black community in such a way that when we implement it, we make gigantic leaps.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create digital art, predominately portraits and sometimes other things; I also am a film photographer. I create mostly due to my compulsion to, I feel like I have to create things or I get REALLY sad so my art is a form of therapy for myself. I have a deep love for anything involving mysticism, spirituality, space and the black experience. My art is combination of those things.

Right now, I am focused on black mysticism and the expansion of what it means to be black. For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be some sort of magical creature or superhero, but I never felt “good enough” Because of that it is my current mission to make a correlation between blackness and magic.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success for me when it comes to my art is when it resonates with myself first but then someone else. When someone is able to find meaning in something I create, it really is a beautiful feeling because it reminds me how connected we all are and that is so powerful. I think a characteristic all artists should have is the ability to see many perspectives without judgment. I don’t think it is the job of an artist to push a singular agenda, approaching art with a singular perspective in mind seems dangerous to me.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work is updated most frequently on my Instagram @peathefeary. I also have a website peathefeary.com and my work can be purchased via this link https://www.redbubble.com/people/peathefeary. I am coming out with and Oracle deck very soon so be on the lookout!
