Check out Shannon Kroll’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Kroll.

Shannon has a passion for Atlanta, environmental sustainability and community. Following more than a decade in the counseling industry, she tried many careers – office management, sales, retail – before falling in love with Atlanta and public transportation. This led to work in Atlanta’s burgeoning tech industry and with local small businesses. Shannon’s passion and ability to connect people makes Root City a perfect fit. Shannon lives (mostly) car-free in Reynoldstown with her husband Ben and their blue heeler, Chef. She does kickboxing and meditates.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Root City is a welcoming community of makers that host pop-up events featuring artisanal items for sale and those that create them. We love connecting our community to the local artisans and artists making in Atlanta.

There are so many positive impacts! Economic development – it’s wonderful to financially support local businesses and neighbors. The environmental aspect is huge for us as each sale through local channels is one less item that needs to be shipped across the ocean. And, building community through events and workshops.

In addition to the popup markets and shops we host, we also offer networking events for the local maker community once a month.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
As a supporter of artists and makers, my role is a bit different. Root City’s success is based in providing a welcoming and fun environment for the makers and the community.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Our next event is a Mother’s Day Market on May 12, 2018 from 10a-4p. It’s a wonderful way to scoop up a gift for everyone you celebrate on Mother’s Day!

We’re still planning and the best way to keep up with all of the latest details is to follow along on our website hellorootcity.com or on social media @hellorootcity #rootcity
