Check Out Terrance Granger’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Granger.

Hi Terrance, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Terrance Granger aka Tj aka Big Flexx. I’m 31 years old from Richmond Va. I played basketball at NCCU and transferred to Virginia State University. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.

When I was in College, my friend opened a club in 2014 and I needed extra money so I told him that I would work security. About a year later, Dj Crush Groovey needed a security guard to ride with him to CIAA. Everybody was asking how much were they going to get paid and what not and I had just got my refund from school, so I was ballin lol. I told him I would do it for free, I just needed somewhere to sleep. As soon as we got to Charlotte, he introduced me to a lot of heavy hitters and that one weekend changed my life. My relationship with Crush Groovey grew even more after that weekend. We went on the road doing shows just about every month after that. Ciaa 2019 is when everything changed for me. I got to work for a Floyd Mayweather event and then my stock just grew.

One of my proudest moments was that I got called to work something in the Water in Virginia Beach with Pharrell and Friends. I got to work security for Teddy Riley. After that weekend, I didn’t look back after that and just put my grind in overdrive. Here is a list of the artist I have worked with. I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I was told I was going on tour for five months and I quit my job, come to find out that it wasn’t true. It took me a long time to get another job due to the fact that my job wouldn’t let me come back. Some other struggles were that some people didn’t take me serious until outside areas started booking me for events. Also first starting out, I had to realize that I wouldn’t be making six figures out the gate and also that you couldn’t really negotiate without experience or a good resume.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a celebrity bodyguard. I specialize in TourSecurity, BodyGuard, Special Event, Estate, Executive & Close Protection. I am also the CEO of Big Flexx Securities LLC. What makes me stand out is that I don’t usually go for the all-black because everybody knows that is security. Unless I’m told to wear that, I like to just put a comfy outfit on and just try to blend in.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love all the different food options y’all have and also, I love seeing the growth of our people. It’s nothing like being in a city full of your kind and seeing so many of them succeeding and being successful in more than one craft. I hate the traffic. To go two exits can take up to 45 minutes.
