Community Highlights: Meet Aaliyah Duah of Financial Revolutionn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaliyah Duah.

Aaliyah Duah

Hi Aaliyah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Brooklyn, NY I saw many people make poor financial decisions, including myself due to the lack of knowledge. During the pandemic, I wasn’t able to work at my internship, which was my only source of income. At the time, I was 17 years old, and I just thought all the people who had children and families to take care that weren’t able to have enough income to take care of their loved ones. That’s what sparked my interest in financial literacy because I wanted to know how other communities and people were building wealth.

That is when I learned about financial literacy, and I was so amazed. I was reading books like Rich Dad Poor Dad and Think and Grow Rich. I immediately wanted to share this information with my friends, but I knew I needed to share it with the world. That is when I started posted financial literacy videos on my personal Instagram page. A few weeks later, I birthed Financial Revolution, which was a social media platform to teach financial literacy and make financial information understandable for people in the black community.

Since 2020, I’ve been growing my business and creating brand awareness. I linked up with some of the top people in finance such as Earn Your Leisure and Wallstreet Trapper.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was challenging balancing college and building a brand at the same time. At one point, I really wanted to drop out of college because I was really passionate about my business, and I felt like school was taking up my time.

Another challenge is getting people to value my content and understand why it is important. Many of us have been programmed to be more focused on things that do not really benefit us such as gossip. So sometimes it is hard getting people to focus on what I’m trying to teach them.

As you know, we’re big fans of Financial Revolutionn. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Financial Revolutionn is an innovative company that uses media and entertainment to teach financial literacy and entrepreneurship to individuals in underprivileged communities. We empower individuals with creative methods and engaging content, promoting economic empowerment and providing essential skills for financial success.

What sets me apart from others is me starting my business at 17 years old and being only 20 and how far I’ve been able to come. I’ve been consistent and really inspiring Generation Z which is hard for a lot of businesses to get our attention. I also made finance and money seem cool.

I am proud to be a McDonald’s Black & Positively Golden Change Leader. I am also proud that I graduated college with Honors while traveling weekly to teach financial literacy in Brooklyn, NY while my school was in Virginia. I am proud to graduate from an HBCU (Virginia State University). At my HBCU I serve as the Student Government Association Executive Vice President and under my administration I was able to advocate for my school to start an inaugural paid fellowship to Ghana West Africa to get students to learn about their roots.

– I self-published my first book at 18 years old called “The Blueprint for Investing” to give people a step-by-step guide on how to get started investing in the stock market.

– Created a financial literacy game called “Rap Cards” where I took lyrics out of rap music that speaks about money and used to teach financial literacy.

– I have a show on Revolt Podcast Network (Young & Dumb Show).
